Fragrant Plum

Good grief what a stunner! I grow mostly old roses and rugosa hybrids here in southern NH - I bought this grandiflora in 2012 at a nursery in western Massachusetts while visiting my sister. Two blossoms, very nice, but managed to get hit by late June heavy rain that trashed them just when I was about to cut them both.
2012-2013 winter was hard on the bush, I don't do much protection except a few hemlock branches. Lots of winter kill. One stingy bloom, and again the spring weather got to it
Last winter - well we had a killer. Bitter cold, and tons of snow. I thought the snow might have been a help, insulating but - canes broken by weight of snow. So I pruned hard for second spring.
AND - SURPRISE burgeoning cane growth, two blossoms so far - the one in the house now has been cut for nearly a week and is still fragrant and perfect and huge - 5 1/2 " across. I cut it as soon as it started to unfurl, and it finished in the house. And it looks like there are more buds forming.
And this is Zone 5! I am definitely getting another one next spring.
Very excited, hence the caps and punctuation excess....
