| Okay All - I was hoping by now that my leaf problem would have gotten better but not so. I can't believe this as I have been on top of caring for them before the season started with a good clean up - wanted to have a healthy yard this year. It has been humid and yes we need a good soaking rain but I am watering and have done the alfalfa tea, compost tea, fed early with RoseTone and have done the Bayer 3-1.
Some of my roses still don't have many leaves, some yellow, some are a bit black spot and the weirdest thing I have never seen is, some leaves on some roses look like someone put their thumb print on them! So they are green with a brown thumb print. Strange! I am getting blooms - this improved after the Bayer no more bugs eating the buds. Any ideas or suggestions? I have a feeling if we get a cold winter, these Roses will moved on to Rose Heaven. Many Thanks

| The roses get blackspot and drop their leaves in my no-spray garden, however this does not diminish vigor or hardiness. The brown spots could be from the heat. Sounds like your roses are resting for the summer. Rain and cooler weather will bring on new leaves. |

| Chantel, you're on Cape Cod, right? I'm thinking that your soil is sand. Please check the American Rose Society web page and locate a consulting rosarian in your district. You probably need to do things differently than the rest of us due to your soil type. Good luck! |

| @Krista it has been a very warm & humid summer- UGH!!! We received some rain last night and it has been showering off & on today. Just wish it was pour as the air is like hot soup! @Cecily yes I am on Cape Cod and you are right we have sandy soil. But these garden beds are established - many are over 15 years + old. So yes I have addmended them a lot. I noticed the leaf problem last year but got it under control - this year nothing seems to work. :( Thank You I will check in with the local rose group here. I have a feeling if we have a cold winter I will lose many of the roses. I think I will just clean up and start over Many thanks to you both :) |
