Fragrant cloud needs a friend. I only have room for one more rose in the small front garden. I'm going for Sunset colors, but Cloud is so loud I don't know what to do- Ideas please!
I'm edging towards Octoberfest but want your sugesstions.

*I have dark leaved plants and light pink flowers to play off the hues. Thank you!

Typhoo Tea! Colors assort well; fragrance is AMAZING! Dense, saturated, sharp, heavily scented. Kim

Okay Serena who is usually in the Rose Gallery says that Gemini looks great next to Fragranr cloud. Just sayin...

If you want to cool Fragrant Cloud's color a bit you might take a look at Lemon Spice. Hey there is yellow in sunsets.;) Lemon Spice is very fragrant and has dark green foliage. The yellow is a warm one yet soft.

Thanks for the ideas all! Typhoo Tea- what a beauty and one of it's parents Voodoo also.
And Yes zypheriris, Gemini would be a natural match- formerly contemplated but nixed due to no fragrance.

I also thought I could sneak in Twilight Zone for contrast? I want to hear your opinions on complimentary & contrast colors too! Fragrant Cloud-why do i have to love you?

Tessiess- Exactly. That's why I was thinking of Octoberfest- the yellow/orange/red combo. Lemon spice, that would cool it down. And how did you know I love anything lemon?
While googling 'lemon spice' I got all kinds of cake recipes too. Thanks for making me hungry... ha!

Color combinations are such a personal taste thing. I have VooDoo - it isn't fragrant, and not really a rose I'd recommend. Too bad about Gemini's lack of fragrance - it's new for me this year, and is visually spectacular. I have a dark orange/purple combo (Color Magic and Heirloom) - and it's a combo that is "in your face". Definitely an acquired taste.

Hey - how about Elle?! Fragrance is luscious, and in its morphing color bloom cycle it includes hues of orange. I've never seen octoberfest, but just looked it up and it's gorgeous and looks like another great choice!

Fragrant Cloud doesn't look good with much. Strange with white and red. It's orange doesn't match other oranges well if the orange is a clear, pure orange-juice orange. Yellow doesn't hold up. Pink is horrifying.

Looks okayish with Hot Cocoa, Cinco de Mayo, fairly good with 'Tuscan Sun'.

Your right, FC doesn't look good with much. I was going for Sugar Moon then thought doing white was 'the easy way out'.

Narrowed it down to Tuscan Sun and yes, Gemini.

Thank you all so much for your time and thoughts on this! FC might only make it for a few years here in BS ridden Seattle anyway.

Fragrant Plum! Lol. It's on sale, 50% off on Heirloom Roses right now!!! How great is that?

Tahitian Sunset?

Twilight Zone? I really like Purples with oranges, and the most beautiful sunsets have purple, rose, lemon, aqua, coral...

Thank you all for tempting me. Really, I mean it!
Each idea is different and helped me to look at options I probably wouldn't have.

if you think of anymore, please feel free!

Mine looks good with non-rose plants, sort of off by itself with various types of foliage around it. For example the bronzy Phormiums--looks great with those! You might try just brown/bronzy foliage nearby. The brown/burgundy Pennesetum setaceum rubrum grass--great combo with FC flowers.

It's just an unusual color--not pure clear orange, not red, kind of dusky or greyed orange-red, and the duskiness is what is tricky. That's why it looks good with 'Tuscan Sun', because TS has that dusky/greyed quality as well. 'Disneyland' and 'Easy Does It' are in the same color range, but completely without the dusky/greyed quality, instead with more pure, clear tones, so they don't look right with FC even though they are in the same color range.

When all else fails, just close your eyes and inhale FC's fragrance. Yummy good!

I always think of Fragrant Cloud as bright and oraney-pink, but yes, maybe a duskiness there. I often find that in real life the green leaves and other companion plans even out any hard crashes in colours. It does depend upon the blend though. If it turns out too difficult, at least another Fragrant Clound can`t be all wrong.
