| Finally ... I am so excited to post my first photos on the forum from my June rose garden. I'll continue this posting in the gallery, but I wanted to introduce my garden with a few photos on the rose forum. My talented 14 year old granddaughter was the photographer, and she helped me get the pics posted too. Thanks so much, Clare!
Ascot, Exquisite; one of my favorites
Abbay de Cluny
Julia Child
Julia Child Bush, This Julia is 6 feet tall, just like the real Julia!
Evelyn and Sarah Bernhardt Bouquet, Evelyn is the size of a peony. Please excuse the corner of the unmade bed!

| Wonderful! I love the shot of Brother C. and Jude - what are the delightful pink flowers in the underplantings? Snapdragons? |

| Your roses are incredibly impressive, and what a beautiful job of photography! I haven't heard of Ascot either but it's very attractive. You must be a master gardener; it's not often I've seen such beautiful rose bushes and companion plants. You should be very proud! |

| Your roses are incredible! More inspiration for a newbie like me. I saw a few of the roses in the botantical gardens in the botanical gardens here in New York City, and yours can definitely go toe-to-toe which those under professional care. Do you spray? I did not even know Julia can get that big!!! How old is yours? Is it ownroot or grafted? |

Hi All, Your comments, which I respect highly, have moved me so much. Rose Forum members are a great group of people, so willing to share their knowledge and help anyone who asks. I can't believe what I've learned about and seen, from gopher wars to gorgeous photos of members' roses, since I joined the Forum. Thank you all so much. And Clare thanks you, too, for your kind comments about her photography. It means a lot to her. Diane |

| Oops--I meant answer a couple of your questions. The flowers interspersed between the pink snapdragons (below Bro and Jude) are argyranthemum daisies "Sassy Pink". I think they are a form of Santa Barbara daisy, but they don't get very big. They act as annuals here, but hang on till fairly late in the season. They start blooming quite early, then start pooping out in July, and revive some when the weather cools. They come in lots of lovely colors. I have a couple of different kinds of snapdragons, but most are raised from seed and are called La Bella. They are superior to any other snaps I have grown, but are to hard to get around here as plants. I don't spray because we don't have black spot, rust, RRD, or JBs. It's not perfect here, though. Because we only get an average of 12 inches of precipitation a year, we have to WATER all the time. Irrigation is a necessity and the major workload of the summer. I have a drip system, plus a complicated tiny sprinkler system, too, so the roses get blasted from two different watering sources. They also get frequent hose showers, too, the spoiled babies. Still, in July things look pretty dry, and the roses produce smaller blooms with fewer petals, and in some cases, faded coloring. Diane |

| oh, top rosing, nana and how fortunate to have a loving competent grand-daughter (Oho, I am training mine up early). Lovely job all round. Well done, you. who has time or the will to make beds - we are going to get back in them soon enough. |

| I want to move to your yard! Just beautiful! Your Julia Child is incredible! Can you tell me its age? I have four Julia Childs along my front fence that are maybe 3 years old, and they aren't as nicely rounded as yours. Guess I need some pruning lessons! |

Hi mzstitch--Thank you for your nice compliment about Julia. I have two of them, and I think I got them in 2006-7 whichever was the year they came out. They are grafted roses, and seem to just grow rounded and need little pruning, so they are about as wide as tanks! One Julia is about a foot shorter than the other, though. I think JC is a wonderful rose which always looks good. You can't believe the windstorms that we had, day after day, a few weeks ago (luckily the photos were taken about two days before the first one). After each storm, I would run outside and shove those big girls' canes up, and they would pop up with no breakage, looking good as ever. What a rose. Hi campanula--I hope Mr Camps' back is better so you can start working on your own flower beds, too. Thanks for your comments. Diane |

Diane, Simply stunning - what a joy it must be for you and what a showcase for the neighbors! I love the color combinations and the robust health of the plants - well done you, indeed. You are so right about those recent howling windstorms. Meandering outside with a stick and gloves to pull and prod all the canes back to a semblance of normal. High desert "grooming". |

Oh Nana just beautiful. I have a few of the same that you have but none of mine could come close to yours. Your Julia Child...well I'm heading out to the garden right now to have a chat with mine. Mine is 3 years, own-root and about 3 by 3. Your grandaughter is a wiz. Not only was she sweet to help you out but the quality of the pics are superior. She is quite the talented young lady. Clair thank you so much for bringing us so much beauty. Jeannie |

Fantastic! So impressive! Any secrets to fertilizing/watering/pruning??? How about the vase life of these beauties? The Sarah/Evelyn vase looks like something out of "Country Living". I'm envious. Please share more! Susan |
