Kirkland (Costco) Pruner Set

Well I misplaced my second set of felcos. That's 2 laying around my yard somewhere, rusting. So we were in Costco today and they had a set of 3 pruners, two extra blades and springs and a sharpener for $19.97. They look and feel exactly like felcos, but are made in Taiwan. I was wondering if anyone has used them and what they thought of them. I will hopefully find at least one of my pair of felcos and if not get another, but it's nice to have these around.

DH says, they don't open as wide as he would like, but are otherwise pretty decent for the $$$.

oops, that's two sets, a small and a regular. It's too hot now to test them out.

My father has been with Costco 25 years as a District Manager, and I know most of their Kirkland brand items are made by big brand companies...its just a guess which one. I know Kirkland dog/cat food is actually made by Iams for example ;)

Tammy, I've heard that, that's why I thought they may actually be made by Felco.

I really just wanted the little sharpener :)

Do you happen to have the item # for them? I think a gardening company bought all of them from the local costco, Oxnard is out of them too. But thought I could check and see if there are any left anyplace I might visit.

I don't know about the specific item you asked about so I can't comment on it. However I will say that Costco sells excellent merchandise and I've never been dissapointed with anything (except these sugary belgian waffles).. Give them a try.

That sounds like a great deal and I do like the quality of Costco's products very much. Now I'll have to go see if I can find them at my Costco!

Hi Kippy, I still had the cardboard backing in my recycle bin. The UPC # is 935202.

HEY TAMMY! THANK YOU!

I'm glad to know Iams is behind at least some of the Costco dog food.

These pruners do look and feel like my Felcos ... With a very important difference ... Quality of materials. I left my pruners, both my Felcos and my Kirkland lookalikes, in the greenhouse this winter. The Felcos came through the experience perfectly. Parts of the Kirkland ones rusted.

It appears that you do, indeed, get what you pay for. For a decent set of pruners at a good price, Kirkland will do. For pruners that will last a lifetime, spring for the Felcos.

Kirkland pet food is made by Diamond, not Iams.

OK...maybe the east coast is made by Iams? Highly doubt my father would lie about something so petty.

I appologize, after calling to verify, apparently it is made by Diamond now, but was made by Iams up until about 5 yrs ago. We usually don't get on a dog food topic when we talk, and I remember him telling me that a while back. Sorry, I'm just very defensive of my family.

Connie, since I can't seem to keep a pair of felcos for more than 2 years, I may as well go to the 'disposable' ones.

I think I might figure out a way to put bike handlebar plumes on the ends so I can find them when I put them down.
Guess they don't have a remote where I can push a button and get a beep to lead me to them. Any other great ideas out there???

They have a phone app that you can put sensors on stuff and then find it with your phone. But I don't think they have it for iPhones. I was thinking of putting one on my cats.

We bought these pruners last week and so far they are doing the job. I couldn't pass up what I thought was a good deal. I realize that they are not the same quality as expensive pruners but they do the job for me. Being frugal I just can't get myself to spend alot on pruners. If they last a couple of years I will be happy.
