Blister beetles

My Eureka yellow rose has had a constant occupation with
various blister beetles mating in and around the flowers.
The petals of a lot of the flowers are edged in brown. Even
the tight buds have brown on them. There are also holes in some of the petals.Could the blister beetles have something
to do with this? I'm also suspecting thrips.

RE: Blister beetles

Blister Beetles will defoliate a plant. Our GW friend Robert had an awful problem a few yesrs ago with them on his Clematis. Don't squish them with your hands ... That's how they got their name.

The brown edges sound like the work of thrips to me.

RE: Blister beetles

Are these the same blister beetles that get in alfalfa? If they are, they have a substance in them that can literally kill a horse.
