I like to hear your feedback on Claire Austin and Wisley 2008. I'm not sure if I should keep Claire Austin. I don't like her growth habbit - she looks weedy and the blooms look plain ordinary.. Will she improve over time?

My Claire Austin is new, and I'm not keeping it... the fragrance is not nice, and I don't care for the blooms. I love Wisley 2008. Mine is three years old. It doesn't bloom as heavily as other Austins, however the blooms are wonderful.

I got rid of Claire Austin. Nothing interesting about it to me.

Thanks all for the replies. Claire Austin doesnt look as prettyl as compare to those promotional photos. She's a fighter. She survived our harsh summer last year where all her canes died but she quickly replaced them all with new canes. For that reason, I'll give her one more year.

My Claire Austin was newly planted this bare root season, so the jury is still out. But so far, I'm happy with this rose. The stems are thin and flexible, so it was easy to wrap around a post. The buds and early blooms face upward, but as the bloom fattens with petals, it bows its head, which will be an asset when it grows tall on the post. I like the color; it seems to glow from within. I'm not a photographer, but I do think my Claire Austin is as pretty as the promotional photos. Will I like this rose in a year? Who knows -- but right now it's covered in buds, and I look forward to the show. -jannike

For me, Claire Austin flowers well enough and can be pretty, but the flowers don't last very long. It blooms enough to keep it compared with others that do not.
|
Since this is a newly planted rose, I haven't had very many blooms yet (lots of buds). But it seems like the blooms I've had lasted a good while. I'm pretty novice at all this, so sorry for the stupid question: How long is long enough? Thanks -jannike.

I have other, much nicer white roses so CA was one which hit the compost pile (something I do rarely) but it was such a feeble little thing, it only took a flick of the spade.
