Rose Society close to Upland?

Hi my Rosy Friends,
Since I am now living in Upland and am not very mobile and can't drive I was hoping to find a rose society near to me - Upland CA? Is there one? I know of ones in Orange County, Temecula, Arcadia etc but haven't seen one nearby. Didn't there used to be one?

If there isn't one, should I volunteer to start one? I'm not that mobile but I am great at organizing. What do you think?

Your advice, input and thoughts are appreciated.

Rosy thanks,
Carlota

Riverside has one. About 25 miles south. That's one possibility.

Tha better possibility, however, is the Pacific Rose Society which meets in Arcadia -- about 25 miles west from Upland.

Try them both out, but I think you'll find Pacific to be the more active, engaging crowd.

I'll put a link below to information about all of the rose societies in southern California:

You closest would be the Inland Valley Rose Club. It's on the list.

Thank you all for the links. Unfortunately, the drive is still to far for me with my disability. I wish I could attend any of the ones listed on the referenced pages Riverside and Moreno Valley are still to far to ask my husband to drive me.

My dh buys my roses, plants them, feeds them and tends them daily for me. He's also doing all of the driving for the family and with 2 daughters that isn't easy.

I was desperately hoping there would be one in Claremont, Chino, Pomona, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Alta Loma, Ontario etc.

Maybe I should ask if there are others nearby that would like to start a rose club in this general area? I miss having the person to person interaction. I would be happy to host events, write newsletters, send invitations, coordinate, even manage a website and cook for other rose lovers?

Gee....do I sound mildy desperate or what????? Hopefully what everyone sees is my enthusiasm coming out for more rosy socializing.

Rosy Smiles,
Carlota

Well -- let me say this -- rose clubs are generally desperate for folks to volunteer to do all of those things. I'll bet if you make that desire and willingness to volunteer known to the presidents of each of those clubs, someone, somewhere, somehow, will find a member close to you that is willing to drive you to meetings and events.

Give it a go. I wish I lived near Upland.

It gives me to think, though, that there is room for ARS to explore what a few of us in HRG are doing.

Rose Groups/Societies that meet principally on line.

No, it does not meet ALL needs -- BUT it can build community and lead to friendships that facilitate
less-frequent physical gatherings.

Meanwhile, Carlota, there really MAY be Pacific RS members who live near you, and might be willing to give
you a lift.
