Unknown gorgeous pink rose

This is a rose I found at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens in Durham, NC, in their rose garden. All of the roses they have in the ground are labeled, but unfortunately this container specimen is not.

I was incredibly taken with the number of perfect blooms and perfect foliage on this plant. I don't believe they spray at this garden, because most of the roses in the ground are defoliated to some extent on their lower leaves, and don't push out flowers the way I would expect if they were heavily fertilized. However this unlabeled pink container rose was perfect! It's possible it gets more care, being part of a container display.

Anyway, what do you think this is? My first thought was Madame Lombard, but I have never seen it in person so it's hard for me to judge. It's a very bright "neutral" pink, not quite hot, not quite shell. I love the way the blooms were arranged on the bush, unlike the long thick canes found on HTs, but I have never seen such a gorgeous shrub before.

I doubt it is Mme. Lombard, because her new growth is a deep mahogany red.

I'm reminded more of 'Bon Silene' -- but I'm tentative about that, because it has been years since we've grown her.

It does look a lot like the double pink KO I have, but I am terrible at identifying roses so I wouldn't be confident saying that.

I sometimes take mine for granted because of common they are, but they really are a healthy beautiful rose. Either way, it looks like you made a good purchase.

Double Pink Knockout was my first guess also.

Thanks, I think you're right about the Double Pink Knockout! I hadn't considered a Knockout rose. The bright, semi-double magenta ones are completely ubiquitous in this area, I think they are at LEAST 80% of all roses, and I am completely bored of them. This is truly a spectacular rose that I would not have looked twice at otherwise.

The pink double is my favorite of the knockouts. What you see most around here are the original red, sometimes the red double.

I agree with you phasedweasel. If this one wasn't everywhere you look I think I'd be much more enthralled with it. Mine was my first rose bush purchase and while I'd never see the need to buy another one I'm glad I have one in my garden. It rewards me with lots of blooms and little effort on my part. I'm still glad I have it.

brittie - that's interesting because here all I find are the hot pink ones. I've never seen a red one here while shopping. Walmart, Earl May, Costco, Menards, Home Depot, Lowes... they're all the pink ones. Even my local nursery I shop at only carried hot pink, the single and double bloom KOs. Maybe it's location based.
