| Just wondering if this creature has been a problem for anyone this year. I live in Montreal and many of us have been invaded! Had to completely cut my roses down and now I have installed a trap.
Thanks, sharon |

| There's a good thread in the Organic Rose Forum on how to get rid of Japanese beetles. |

| Get rid of that trap! All it will do is attract more beetles! The traps work by sending out pheromones that draw then in. Of course the trap isn't big enough to hold them all and the spillage will just LOVE your roses! Then they lay their eggs and your lawn becomes grub heaven and you end up with more beetles than ever. The joke is that you want all your neighbors to hang traps so they won't be in your yard but theirs instead. If you want to reduce their population some what, and by no means completely, you can use some kind of grub killing product on your lawn in the early spring to reduce the population before they become beetle. This has helped me cut down on the number of beetles I get but it will not get rid of them all because they can fly in from outside your yard as well. I'm not exactly sure which sprays work to kill them but I'm sure someone on here will know. If you use a spray make sure it's the right one!! A lot of sprays will have no effect on them at all so don't waste time, money and kill good bugs if you don't have to. |

| I know there is something I can get that you can also apply in the fall. It's some type of living microorganisms that you have to apply immediately or put in the fridge or something. I applied it many years ago in an attempt to get rid of grubs.i will inquire about it again. The problemis the soil has to be wet and in this drought we are having, I can't water properly. So I will have to wait. I have never seen this invasion before. I saw a few last year but didn't realize what was going on. |
