 o
thinking my Eden Climber has RRD

I'm heartbroken to think my brand new (this year) Eden Climber has RRD. It's got all of the signs. Last week I cut off the offending cane and it grew back almost overnight.

Should I just remove it all together? I so wanted an Eden Climber. I have 2 other roses around them and neither of them have any signs.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Do you have a picture, vampy? Just to make sure, it might be helpful to have several others agree with your diagnosis.

If it is RRD, you have no choice. Cut off all the canes and dig up all the roots. Do not throw them on the compost pile. Put all parts of the rose in a trash bag and seal tightly.

Yes, it is really upsetting. I've been having one RRD case per year for the past four years. Got a suspicious rose right now--I'm waiting to see what grows back after the surgery I performed. Awfully slow --maybe our triple-digit heat slowed down the whole rose.

That the nearby roses didn't catch it is common. It isn't easily "caught"--it is passed around by a tiny mite blown in the wind. That tiny critter may be blown across your yard or across town. It's all strictly chance.
