Hi All, I'm new to this list. I have a few knock out roses and would like to get a few more roses other than the typical red,, pink and yellow. I would like to get low maintenance roses and would like a recommendation on what type to buy and a good catalog to buy from. Thanks, Nancy

I would check out websites: HeirloomRoses.com Some have catalogs, all have 100's of wonderful roses.

I agree with all of the above! I am 2 hours from Chamblees so have never had them ship - their roses are very healthy - very fairly priced. Antique Rose Emporium is 3 hours from me but once I had to have some shipped - they ship huge roses with excellent packing. Roses Unlimited - super healthy, you cant go wrong there. Rogue Valley and Heirloom sell bands - smaller roses, I always grow out in pots first. I just ordered from Heirloom during their sale. All of these companies are excellent! Have also ordered from Palatine and Regan Roses with great results, Edmunds and S&W Greenhouse are good as is David Austin roses. Have also ordered from Jackson Perkins with good results when they have what I wanted that none of the other companies had.

Sometimes a nursery won't have a great catalog, but you get great roses when you order from them. Roses Unlimited is a great example of this. You basically need to know about the rose before you go there to order as the site itself doesn't have much info or many pictures. This shouldn't stop you from ordering there, just research the rose first. You can also call them if you have any questions, as they are very friendly and helpful. Helpmefind.com is a great website that will tell you all you need to know about a rose you are interested in. Even after selecting a rose on a nice catalog I will go to help me find to verify information about the rose and often learn more about it there as well.

Palatine Nursery, look at the "Fairy Tale" series (Roses Unlimited also has a few varieties). I have Caramel Fairy Tale and Floral Fairy Tale, neither variety requires more than fertilizing and watering. No blackspot on these at all. Palatine sells bare root roses. For PA, you would order them next month when Palatine opens (September 8th), for delivery and planting in late March/early April. If you are located in SE PA, send me an email, I can point you to some Consulting Rosarians who can help.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I'll be busy looking up websites. Diane - I'm in SW PA.
