| I have discovered that in the area that I sucessfully transplanted these roses from last fall....that there are rose plants growing in the same spots that I dug them out. What is going on? I assume I didn't get the whole plant out. I have planted other plants in the spots but I'm wondering if they will be okay "sharing" with these new roses growing back? The new plants that I replaced are chocolate flower (berlandiera lyrata) and blue flax. I have never had this happen before. Roses did not get enough sun so I moved them out...but they grew back.

| Your original roses have propagated themselves from roots left after transplanting. If your roses are grafted, the bushes will probably be the rootstock that was used by the grower--they usually are once blooming, small flowered vigorous plants that most people don't want as roses. If your roses were own-root, they are clones of the bushes you moved & you may wish to pot them up & plant them with the others. |
