| I noticed over the past couple of months, that I have quite a few pictures of roses, where different insects have "crashed" my photos. About 4-5 days ago I made a picture of Rainbow Sorbet my desktop background, and I didn't notice until tonight, that there was spider hiding in the petals! Take a look at these few pictures and see how long it takes you to notice the "crashers" :)

Can you see the Caterpillar?

Thanks for posting, this is fun. The caterpillar is amazing, have you seen many of them on your roses? This is one of my favorites: Black Cherry Flori-Bumble-Bee

lol...your bumble bee is getting right in there isn't he? too cute! That caterpillar is actually the first one of its kind that I've seen :) Kind cool! I'd love to see other people's pictures with too!

That caterpillar is amazing! I had a teeny one get on the outside of my to-go cup, and I brought him inside by accident. He kept trying to pretend to be a twig when I noticed him, and it was the first time I'd ever noticed that behavior from these guys. They are awesome to watch! I don't photograph my roses much because I don't take many pictures except cell-phone candid sort of shots :) But I have all sorts of creatures in my plants, lol. I'm always a little scared to sniff, honestly! My favorites are all the cool little spiders that live in the blooms.

Meredith, I worry about the same thing! Always do a quick once-over before I plunge my nose in! I don't know, Jeri. I tried to google and there's a lot of different species that look like this one. The general consensus was that it's some kind of moth (although, a little late in the season for caterpillars in general). Kippy, I love it! I kept looking in the petals...and then I spotted it! :)

I was pruning my Blush Noisette the other day and saw a walking stick on a dead branch! First one I've seen in years.

It's Mantis Time! right now in our garden. I have to pay very close attention when deadheading that I don't accidentally maim or murder any of them. They blend in so well with the stems and foliage that I don't see them unless they move. I'm just super, super glad we have a lot of them right now. I keep telling them to go forth & multiply.

I'm farsighted, so up close vision takes effort. Once, many years ago, I plunged my nose nearly into a brilliant light yellow portulaca, to see if it had a scent. Just before my nose touched petal, something MOVED. I backed up in a hurry, and tried to find what I'd not-really-seen. There was an enormous crab spider sitting RIGHT THERE, body was large pea sized! I nearly wet my pants..... Since then, I've been much more cautious about smelling without checking first!

| Funny, I just happened to have taken a few pics recently where a bee was in the bloom. Here's a couple of them: JACARANDA
JAMES BIDDLE
Hmmm.... I just realized they're both hot pink and both in the same bed, almost right next to each other! And then there's HEATHER with a nymph of some sort, a little out of focus. I see these quite often. I dunno what they are tho.

You haven't lived until one of those tiny slimy feeling rain frogs jumps on the end of your nose. I nearly had a heart attack. They have suction cups on their feet and does that feel weird when you pull them off your nose. They love to get inside Belinda's Dream for some reason. I don't stick my nose in w/o looking anymore. I love these kind of pictures. I hope we get more.

floridarose, I love those so much! I'm hoping mine will like these teeny birdhouses I got for them to hide in, lol. I've never seen one in a rose. I had my ear inches from a fat preying mantis the other day, and I've heard that wheel bugs bite, too. At least the bees know me and don't mind me very near 'their' blooms :) One of these days I'm going to inhale an earwig, though; I just know it.

They are cute, Meredith, but they feel so cold and wet when they get on you. The ones that get in B's Dream are only about an inch long, and they're so cute peeking out of the petals. Once when I starched all my husband's dress shirts, I hung them on the deck to dry and forgot about them. As I brought the shirts in the next morning, those little frogs started hopping everywhere. The shirts were infested with them. I had to rewash the shirts because I was afraid they'd peed on the shirts. I also chased frogs all over the house for several days.
