I've never grown the pink version, but I have two GaA bushes that are very shade tolerant for me. Once the trees leaf out in spring, they get very little sun. At different times through the summer, they may get at most an hour of direct sun very early in the morning and/or at most a couple of hours of sun very late in the evening. The rest of the time, they are shaded by large sycamore trees and a huge old pecan tree between my neighbors drive and mine. Under those conditions, mine give me monthly flushes and some scattered blooms between the flushes. In our humidity, they will blackspot a bit if not sprayed occasionally, but BS probably isn't an issue in Phoenix.

Wow Pat! What gorgeous pictures of a gorgeous rose! I am going to try that... I think I'll put the Gruss there and the Pink one in the back.

Does anyone have gruss hedge? If so, what would be the ideal spacing? 3'? 2.5'? I want them to grow somewhat together but not be crowded.

I'd say 3' should work. The max spread for mine is about 4'. Should make a nice hedge as they have leaves and flowers all the way to the ground, dense growth, and maximum repeat bloom. Highly susceptible to blackspot here, though.
