Hi,people. I'm working on my fall orders, and wanted to order a few from D. Schmitz in Belgium, he has this one climber that I just cannot resist ,called Joyeuse Farandole, that is supposed to be lilac-purple-deep pink in colour, and growing to be 4 meters tall, with rebloom !!! Dudes and dudettes, ol'bartie cannot say no to THAT, what with her addiction to the cool pinks and purples and climbing roses...plus, he's got a Jacques Cartier that is supposed to CLIMB. But the rating for this nursery on HMF is kind of lukewarm. In my opinion, this could be simply due to the fact that this is a very small nursery, not very well-known,and only perhaps ONE person rated it,and we can't know anything about the person/s who did the rating (level of experience, if any? for example...). Still, I thought it might be interesting to hear if any of you out there have had actual experience with this nursery, or better yet, with the actual roses that they breed...any comments? thanks, bart

Unfortunately those of us in the US aren't able to have experience with his roses. All I can say is that Roses de Daniel is a Facebook friend. The photos of the nursery look prosperous and organized. He also seems to have devoted fans in Europe. I think you are right about there just not being enough votes on HMF. I guess you'll know by trying.

Thanks,mendocino_rose; you encourage me. Good as HMF is, you really DO have to take it-like everything else, I guess-with the proverbial grain of salt. The rose Madame Solvay is only rated as "good", I believe, but I am totally in love with it; I'd call it excellent ...just to give an example...bart

I have no personal experience of them but a friend of mine had one of her HMF photos stolen and added to their homepage. She tried several times to get at least a rose in compensation but had no reply.
