Summer Fashion

What do you all think about Summer Fashion? I've ordered it this year, and am wondering if I should have.
I look for fragrance, loveliness of bloom and amount of bloom. I overwinter my roses in the garage - so winter hardiness is not an issue.

Thanks!
Carol

I don't recall any fragrance at all, but mine is very short. It blooms OK, not overly prolific, but the coloring is lovely (to me), and it is a favorite. I just purchased another one, as I think mine (18+ years) might still be sulking after last winter.

We grew it years ago. I loved the bloom, but here, it mildewed to an astonishing degree (and in those days, we sprayed!).

I saw it growing in Louisiana, and noted that it had perfect foliage there -- so I think blackspot wasn't an issue for it.

It's been a really poor grower for me although it has survived my winters. I usually only get one or two blooms on it a season and it is spot prone for me.

Yikes!!! Not the best endorsements!! Sounds like it's pretty, but not the best bush. Hmmmm....I'm going to cancel this rose. It was an iffy addition at best.
thanks!!

RE: Summer Fashion

It was the worst disease prone rose I have ever tried to grow.

My plant was budded, so I don't know if it would be a good rose own root. It was a total black spot mess both in my Socal garden and in my garden in the mountains of northern California.

For me, it was never a vigorous and healthy plant.

It must be a good rose somewhere, but not where I have gardened.

Smiles,
Lyn

I still grow Summer Fashion, and it is still a mildew magnet, and yes, I spray.

Get Easter Basket instead. It's very similar, except it blooms more and gets no mildew.
