Distant Drums

Attached is a picture of Distant Drums which I think goes very nicely with the purple Butterfly Bush which backs it. Those of you in colder climates might like to know that this rose came back after my zone 5 (4 in the US) winter without any protection except that there was a good snow cover. I haven't had a lot of blossoms and the bush has not grown very large but I think the plant is more of a floribunda than a rose bush. Anyway, I do like the unique colour of this rose.

Hello,

Would you explain why your zone 5 is zone 4 in the US, please?

"my zone 5 (4 in the US)"

Thank you.

It's lovely! I've always liked the soft play of colors in this one.

It's such a pretty rose. I loved the color and the fragrance. It's one that I lost last winter. It was never as strong a grower as my other Buck roses. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I did.

The US and Canadian map differ in the way they number zones. I seem to fall into zone 4 on the US map.

Susanne27,

Thank you for the information. I'm wondering whether translation of Canadian zone listings is required in general?

You will see that I'm listed as zone 9 here in Florida, but I also garden in zone 4. So understanding such subtleties is very valuable in terms of evaluating hardiness reports.

Thank you for the explanation and for clarifying your zone listing to what is commonly understood here.

Thank you very much.

Beautiful photo BTW.

Susanne,

I love Distant Drums with purple, nice combo you have there.

Is yours grafted or own root?
