| Has anyone ever grown the Mouse or a gray rose? |
Follow-Up Postings:
|
| "The Mouse" is Grey Pearl. There is also Grey Dawn, a significantly better plant than Grey Pearl. Stainless Steel can almost be as gray and is even better a rose bush than the first two. You can find out all you want to know about all three of them on Help Me Find. Here is the link to Grey Pearl there. Kim |

| well good luck with that! For sure, Grey Dawn is a better rose but , unless you are growing a rose to admire a single lone bloom in a specimen vase (and many, many do) these tricksy greys are a lot of work to keep pristine. Like a lot of people, I have gone down the unusual colour route (but nowehere near as enthusiastically as Kim), very quickly dropping the greys (and then the 'browns') as being undeserving of my limited time and attention. I do persist with a few purples but, in general, I find these odd roses weird and difficult to place in a garden and impossible to grow in my less controlled allotment. |

| Thanks for the link, Kim. I joined HMF--it's indispensible. Campanula, I love your sense of humor. I am in love with the greys/purples/mauves/blues. Of course I chose the wierd and difficult. I will be growing it in a pot behind my garage just for cut flowers. So... |

| I am feeling particularly silly today, so I just had to post this photo. (Pardon me, those of you who have been here a long time as you must have seen it way back.) So, here is my version of the gray Mouse. Something no one really wants to grow. He is really much more than a mouse. A real photo, taken ten years ago while I was wandering in the yard, snapping my rose photos in the morning.

| Kathy, that's so cute! The Mouse/Grey Pearl has significance in rose history, but I understand that can be a challenge to grow. I agree with Kim that if you want a grey rose, Stainless Steel is a very good one. |
