I totally agree. I don't like the shade of red, the shape of the flower or the growth pattern. It doesn't make me happy the way the other roses do. I should just give it away & use the spot for a rose I really love.

I love mine, too, and it blooms heavily almost continuously for me...seems to love the heat here. Blooms are much prettier to me when the white reverse is more pronounced before they open all the way, but even fully open I like the bright cherry red that you can see a mile away...but I can see where that shade of red wouldn't appeal to everyone. Mine is a nice full bush that stays clean with only minimal spraying here and color doesn't fade or burn in full sun like most red/red blends. Blooms last forever on the bush and cut. If only it were fragrant, it would be way up on my favorite list.

Has anyone growing it with little or no spray noticed that it is somewhat resistant to blackspot? That was my impression, though I didn't keep it a long time.

It is a thorny beast that makes a lot of stubby blind growth that needs stripping out. The flowers do keep unusually well when cut.

Yes and no. It did tend to defoliate from blackspot, but still grew and bloomed. Here, I would say it was more remarkable for its hardiness. By HT standards, it was a horse.

I'd agree with mad Gallica - it didn't keep all its foliage for me but it wasn't bad with BS. Probably better than average, but not notably BS-free. It is hardier than many HTs for me, though mine stays rather short and doesn't bloom all that frequently. I love high contrast colors, so in a bed with other modern roses it fits right in.

Odd. I love it because it doesn't get a lot of blackspot here (like Michael said) but unfortunately it definitely is not a heavy bloomer.
