What Are Your Most Prolific Bloomers?

I am wondering what are your most prolific bloomers in your garden? My Julia Child is always in bloom. . .best rose in my garden. What are yours?

Chrysler Imperial and Souvenir de la Malmaison, hands down. Chrysler Imperial has to have the most sensational fragrance of any rose I've come across and it blooms continuously for me. Years ago I was a rose snob and laughed at growing modern hybrid teas, but no more. This rose is my favorite. To my taste, there is no finer red rose, and certainly no finer red hybrid tea.
If you like pepper, then Souvenir de la Malmaison's fragrance will be for you and it is always in bud and bloom.

By prolific I am assuming you means produces the most blooms per plant.

As far as modern roses go, Dick Clark, a Grandiflora and Mardi Gras, a floribunda.

Austin roses would be Christopher Marlowe and Princess Alexandra of Kent.

My Nacogdoches has not stopped blooming since the first spring flush. Most of my roses are new this year but my SDLM and Heritage has blooms all the time as well as my Julia Child.

Verdiguy--I'm glad you are getting lots of blooms from Chrysler Imperial, but that certainly was NOT true in my garden and--I'd venture to guess--in most people's gardens. If anything, CI regularly under-performed in my garden.

Some of the better performers in my gardens in Zone 6 Kansas: Our Lady of Guadalupe, Elle, Peter Mayle, Munstead Wood.

I might put Felicia (hybrid musk) in the same category, but this is her first year, so I'm not sure how well she will do in the long run. The Fairy also has been steadily blooming going into the fall weather.

Ditto VerdiGuy 9 Central Florida Chrysler Imperial comments. Chrysler Imperial has to have the most sensational fragrance of any rose I've come across and it blooms continuously for me. Outstanding here!! :)

Right now I would consider my most prolific as Belinda's Dream, Julia Child, Pink Peace, Tiffany and Big Momma. I would love to have a prolific Chrysler Imperial, love that rose.

Easy Does It, # 1, no contest.

Brandy was #1. Tournament of Roses - runner up..

RE: What Are Your Most Prolific Bloomers?

Here in my very hot zone 9 garden, the most prolific bloomers are Angel Face, Cinco de Mayo, Julia Child, Outrageous, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Vavoom, and Ingrid Bergman.

Julia Child is my best bloomer, along with her descendant, Happy Go Lucky, they are followed closely by Rio Samba, I don't really like the way the blooms on RS look as they age, and it has blacskpotted badly so I might be removing it soon. Lady Of Shalott blooms most frequently out of my Austins, and out of all my fast rebloomers, I find her flowers the prettiest and most fragrant.

My Munstead Wood had a pretty slow first year, it did not bloom or grow very much, and what growth or bloom there was came out at awkward angles and in small bursts. It has had a little blackspot, but not as bad as some, but even considering that it seems to have barely any foliage for how much cane it has. i am going to give it some time, treat it nice and hope that it starts to live up to what I hear of it from gardeners who love it. Chrysler Imperial however has had a steady flow of large, beautiful blooms all season. It may not have the fastest repeat of all, but the flowers I get are by far the largest and most perfect, combine that with a pleasantly smallish balanced shape & little to no disease all summer and I am quite impressed.

Most of my roses are for cutting and my most prolific bloomers are Elle, Ingrid Bergman, Firefighter, Peter Mayle.

My Chrysler Imperial is in its first year and it's underperformed compared with my other first-year roses.

Nicole Carole Miller, Ch-Ching, Fragrant Cloud, Peter Mayle and Valencia.
Here's Valencia

Kate,

Chrysler Imperial loves heat and here in Florida it gets heat in abundance! LOL. Southern gardeners love to hear that a plant likes heat, for then we know we have the weather to our advantage.

I have two bushes and two weeks ago there were twenty-three buds and blooms on one plant and twenty-eight on the other. We had non stop torrential rain for a week and a half, and of course this ruined the show, but after dis-budding, there are at least this many buds and blooms coming on. It has not stopped all Summer long! It's off spring, Mr. Lincoln, has not kept up with this pace. There are two plants of ML and I have not had a good flush since July, although the plants are over a head taller than I am, and I'm 6'2". Still have not figured out Mr. Lincoln, but Chrysler Imperial is a blooming thing and I love it.

Sorry to hear that this fine rose has not performed spectacularly for you.

Jack

Dinglehopp3r, I second your comments on Lady of Shallot & Munstead Wood. Mine are in their 2nd year. LoS is perhaps my repeating DA (rivaled by Boscobel). For me, the repeat on MW is about average and the growth is beginning to get irregular, casting out some long and crooked, very thorny branches. Mine are planted in full sun and I wonder if they'd repeat better with some afternoon shade. Some of my very dark roses shut down in the hottest weather.

Jack, I'm glad to hear CI blooms so well for you--she was a beauty when I had her. But I'm not sure I buy that heat theory. I assure you--July and August in Kansas are hot--some summers, over 100 degrees the entire time. All that does to the roses here is make them go semi-dormant for 6 weeks or so--until some cooler weather comes back.

That's true for most of my roses, not just CI. I replaced CI with Oklahoma--I do love her dark color and large blooms--but she doesn't do much better than CI did when the HOT weather arrives. Fortunately, I have a few other roses that limp through July-August heat and manage to put out a few blooms, but very few compared to the May and June bloom periods.

And Dinglehopp and ratdogheads--don't know how I overlooked Lady of Shalott--one of my favorites and a good re-bloomer!

Sunrise at Heirloom. It seems every few weeks Sunrise is COVERED in vibrant orange blooms and the only things I've ever fed her were a few comfrey leaves, some coffee grounds, and mulch in early summer. She had the toughest start of all my 15 roses (being eaten by a rabbit the night after I planted her) and she's still the best bloomer and her size isn't bad especially considering how often and how much she blooms. I'm definately going to get this rose again after I move.

Ninkasi, that bloom is beautiful!

My best bloomers are Home Run, Julia Child and Love Song. Between those three I always have something in bloom.

RE: What Are Your Most Prolific Bloomers?

My best bloomers this year are Munstead Wood, Poseiden, Trinity, Easy Does It, Fragrant Cloud, Madame Antoine Mari and Xuchitl. Used to be a few others, but this is what's going down in my current garden. (In my old garden Pope John Paul II, Archduke Charles and Miss Atwood were constant bloomers. Those plants haven't hit their stride yet here.)

I'm growing roses for the first time this year. I fear the Double Delight is going to bloom itself to death.
