| i just wanted to say this is the year of the rose at my house, and from my observing all over town also.
They didn't die back at all last winter and I only pruned lightly this spring. I fertilized once this spring(Espoma rose food) and sprayed once with fungicide. That is all the care they have had all year. I'm older and can't keep up with this big yard anymore, but can't seem to give it up. My daughter deadheaded over labor day weekend, but thats all the care they have had. I wish you all could see them, minis teas, floribundas and english, all have been spectacular this whole year. I must learn to post pics. I hope you all had a great year too. |

| After taking the summer (all 3 months) off from the garden, doing nothing but keeping them well watered, and occasional deadheading - it's clear to me that they do quite well without us. They provide so much joy, hoping you can keep them in your life for many years to come. |

| Wonderful that you are having success with your roses. Don't give up on gardening, it helps keep us all young. :) |

| I can't do as much as I'd like in the garden because of health issues, but it's still one of the great joys in my life. I truly don't know what I'd do without it. I'm glad you had such a wonderful summer. One thing I might suggest to cut down on the work somewhat is to study your roses and take out the worst performers or the ones you're least happy with for whatever reason. I've found that taking out even a few has lightened the load and actually improved the appearance of the garden. |
