It didn't last very long, but we just had a heavy cell move over Encino, "blessing" us with pea gravel sized hail. Kim

When Dallas Raines said snow for Big Bear and Baldy, I thought maybe we might feel the fall weather at last. I can't believe it hailed on you in Encino. I got a light rain but nothing substantial. Hey I'm not complaining. I'm enjoying every minute of this. Rainy day roses always make me smile.

I hope the hail didn't hurt any of your little just rooted roses.

Nope, thanks Kitty. No damage and it didn't last a long time. It was just an exciting change from 90+ degrees. That is fore cast to change by Sunday, unfortunately. Kim

I love the first rain of Autumn. The air smells so good. Here's Ambridge Rose from this morning

Hi Kim: I love hail, we had that stuff this past July, that was weird. We'll get lots of hail in Nov. and spring. I don't miss the hot weather, but I miss smelling the roses.

Mom got a nice short soaker yesterday, none at my house a few miles away.

Today not a drop for either of us.....but we are hoping for it!

You don't want this one, Kippy. 43 minutes of "War of the Worlds" type lightning, intense hail and heavy rain just subsided. I've never seen anything on this hill flood, but it has now. Drainage is extremely good, but this was so much, so quickly and for such a long time, everything is swamped! Kim

No hail here (yet), just some showers, but I'll take any moisture that falls from the sky!

Wonderful display of Mother Nature today! Loved, loved, loved it. The barn flooded out, so that means new bedding for both horses, but it's always worth it...a gorgeous, wonderful, neat storm.

We didn't get hail, but we sure got the thunder and lightening! And, my critters handled it just fine.

YAY!!! Fall is here. Even though it's supposed to be into the 90's next week, it's definitely fall...I can feel it.

RE: Hail!

Kim I was at Descanso today and the guy working in the rose section said they got heavy rain and hail there too. I also found out why some of the roses don't seem to grow much. They are having deer attacks. Looks like they need to buy a tiger to walk the grounds at night. I would love to see a tiger in the rose garden! He said it was a good day to visit because the deer have been away for a few weeks and they finally have some roses on the plants. Of course they want to eat up the HTs and leave the big damasks and albas that hardly ever bloom alone.

The DAs are taller so they don't get munched as much. I will put up some pictures on the gallery forum later tonight. Still enjoying this weather very much. K
