| I walk past it every day and it really creeps me out. I've never seen anything so thorny. One cane may be normal looking, but the rest look like this.
(The picture is sideways, sorry!) |

| I am sad to say it really looks like Rose Rosette Disease to me :-( - we have some here on the rose forums who can probably confirm this to and tell you what you need to do. |
|
| Yes. The only other possibility is herbicide damage. If it started on one cane and spread to new growth over a period of weeks, it is definitely RRD. Rosette is fatal and incurable. You should remove the plant immediately and seal the pieces in bags. If you have other roses, watch them and deal with infected plants more promptly. Alert the neighbors, too. |

| It's not my rose, I'm happy to say. It's in a bed on a street in Washington, DC. I'll print out this information and drop it through the owner's mailbox. Thanks for the info. |

| That really is creepy. Thanks for posting the picture. |
|
| It's definitely Rose Rosette and has been in the DC area for over a decade. Put in your print out a reference to my website http://www.rosegeeks.com |

| That is one ugly rose. RRD is very common in the DC area. I've seen it on knockout in several shopping centers around here. I've learned to live with it. Cut out the infection and hope for the best. |

| Eek, that is creepy! It would make a good Halloween decoration on a porch, covered with a fake web and spiders, LOL. |
