St. Ethelburga?

I heard about the rose St. Ethelburga over on the Peter Beales message board last Spring and fell in love immediately. At the time it wasn't available in the US but I found it today for sale from Ashdown Roses. Of course I bought it.

What I heard from those folks was that this was a rose that produced lots of big, pink blooms that smelled heavenly on a healthy bush. It sounds perfect to me.

Anyone here grow it?

Carole

Would I do that? <--------trying my best to look innocent

I originally saw this rose in the Peter Beales catalog that I got at the Southern Spring Show. At that point it wasn't available in the US. So I asked the folks on the Peter Beales board about it as most of them are in Europe. They RAVED about this rose. When I saw that it was available now at Ashdown I did a HHRD!!!

I just can't believe no one else has heard about this beauty.

Hi Carole, I grow this rose in my garden. It was in a pot for the first two years and earlier this year I moved it to the ground and with our lack of rain here it's not been happy. But from what I remember from the previous two years it's a great rose. I love it and can't wait for it to get settled in and bloom again for me. Gorgeous blooms you just want to get lost in and a healthy plant in my no spray garden. I've got a bunch of pictures of this beauty on HMF if you want to check them out. I think you'll love this rose.

It would have to be good for a pot..I don't have any more room! I am getting a large pot ghetto as we speak!LOL With only 2 being removed next year....yikes!

Thanks Aprille....it is good to hear from someone else who grows this rose. And your pictures are spectacular!!!

Rain is not something that we get a whole lot of here in SC but this year has been better than the recent past. I'll be picking up my rose Saturday...I'll keep it in a pot for a while.

I'll post a link for anyone interested.

I knew opening this was a bad idea. I think to myself, do I need another rose, and a pink one at that. The photos are beautiful, Aprille. Thanks a lot Carole.
