Smart n' Sassy - Wow!

I just got this rose last month from Chamblee's (own root, 1 gallon). Here's a pic of the latest flower - it wasn't set back at all by being planted. I'm impressed, this bloom is about 3" across and really stands out.

That is very pretty, indeed. I've always loved petals that have the little dimple on the edge like that.

Any reports so far on mildew or other fungus?

Ummm, was curious about which parent donated the dimple petal edge so had to look it up on HMF & Chamblee's to see the lineage - you're pic looks more like a florabunda and the pics of Smart & Sassy are of a mini-flora with an HT shaped bloom and a yellow underside on the petals.

Frankly, I like yours much better, but you might want to check for yourself, I wonder if you got a pot from the next section over in the alphabet?

Lago, oops, you're right! That isn't Smart & Sassy, it's L. D. Braithwaite, a small plant that I just planted! I have no idea how I could make a mistake like that.

I could make a mistake like that easily!!! The most "charitable reason" that I give myself is that I'm already thinking of the next thing before I've finished the first one.

There's actually documentation for this notion. "Some" years ago when I was playing tennis in high school, there was a film lesson put out by a famous coach out in Palm Springs. With some professional help, he was able to show that the reason many shots don't go like you thought you were going to hit them is because the brain is already focused on the opponent about three seconds before actually hitting the ball. Brought about new respect for the saying "keep your eye on the ball"!!!
