| I planted 4 knock out roses last year on the west side of my house that have 2 large oak trees. They grew well and bloomed beautifully last summer. This spring they were loaded with blooms and lots of new growth. But that was it! Never bloomed again and no more growth even though I watered and fertilized them. So I moved them Sunday to east side of house where I thought they may get more sun. 4 days after moving them, they all have new little buds on the canes! I am so excited and relieved. These plants were about to die! |

| Getting more sun is always a good thing for roses. However, if you had the long hot, dry summer most of us had that may have been why they didn't produce new blooms as well. A lot of roses will shut down (basically go dormant) in high heat and drought conditions to conserve energy. The other consideration were those oak trees. They may have been robbing them of all the available water and nutrients. So the move will be for the best on that count too. |
