| I ordered three roses to be delivered in the Spring. I've seen sizes listed in catalogs, but I would like to know how tall and wide they get in your garden.
Also, how disease resistant have they been?
Pictures of the entire plant would be helpful as well if you have any.
Fragrant Cloud
Jubilee Celebration
Queen of Sweden

| Fragrant Cloud can get to 6' x 2' here. In my area (east central NJ), like all of the other hybrid teas, it is not disease resistant, and must be on a regular fungicide treatment. |

| My Queen of Sweden got about 5-6 ft tall and 2-3 ft wide. It is rather cylindrical in habit. I do need to spray it just like I spray all my other roses. |

| FC has been an interesting rose for, it was actually rescued from a compost pile, it had sprouted a couple of branches which I rooted, so mine is own-root, I've had it 8 yrs. It's a heavy bloomer, winter hardy, and when sprayed for BS, makes a good landscape plant, too. BS is it's only real issue, but I'd stop short of calling it a magnet. Mine does attract Japanese beetles when they're around, but that's the price paid for fragrance. Mine blooms all summer even though a lot of roses sleep here during the summer. |

| My Fragrant Cloud has never gotten beyond 3 1/2 feet and is a bit spindly. It is susceptible to black spot in my yard. Jubilee Celebration is on the smallish side for an Austin. It's shown some black spot resistance. |

| In the summer my FC only gets three or four hours of morning sun, and then tree shade (strong tree shade - pin oak + the neighbor's line of (very, very weedy) sycamore maples). It's also still recovering from being killed back to the roots by a freak winter a few years ago where the temps. stayed like October into January, followed in the 2nd week of February by a brutal cold snap. FC didn't reappear until the following late June. It's now a 1 1/2 can wonder, but that one cane is branching nicely. It has one just opened flower right now on a 3' long stem. Measuring from that one stem the bush is 6' high, but the rest of it is 2'-3' high, and I'll be removing that last blooming shoot this week. I plan to put that single flower in a bud vase for Thanksgiving and remove the rest of the shoot since it will only be killed by the winter anyway. Like dennisb1, my FC gets blackspot (& mostly defoliates from it if not sprayed), but no worse than a "typical" hybrid tea and I wouldn't call it a BS magnet (much unlike the Bourbon rose Mme. Pierre Oger!) I live on the coast, ten miles north of Boston. |

| It's good to hear that FC is a fighter. |

| Like bustopher's, my Queen of Sweden gets 5+ ft tall, but only a few feet wide. However, I have had very little disease problems with it, so I would rate it very good disease-resistance. Maybe that is because it gets lots of space (air-flow) and lots of sun. Jubilee Celebration has been kind of a mixed blessing here. Exquisite blooms, but the bush has been kinda spindley ever since I planted it several years ago, and it only grows 2.5 ft high at most. From the catalog description I thought it would be closer to 4 ft tall. As for disease, it's not a big problem, but it could be a bit better and I wouldn't object--but I've been assuming it's overall wimpishness might be why it isn't as disease-resistant as I expected when I bought it. Every spring I say, this year, it will finally take off vigorously and . . . . but that hasn't happened yet. Next spring will be its fourth year. It's not in the most visible part of the garden, so I'm content to keep on waiting a few more years. It is a lovely bloomer. Kate |

| Much like the others, my Queen of Sweden is taller than wide. Very upright, stiff growth, and I find the foliage less than lovely - somewhat sparse and stiff, also. The blooms are worth it, though! I don't spray at all, and haven't had much issue with BS or powdery mildew, and my garden is RAMPANT with PM, so that's a big recommendation. |

Kate, How wide is your Jubilee Celebration? Robyn, Thanks for the info of QOS. It's good to hear that it does alright without spraying. I don't spray either. I don't mind so much about imperfect foliage. Kim |

| It is so interesting to see the commonalities in rose 'behavior'. I've had both Queen of Sweden and Jubilee Celebration for two years (going into the third). Like the rest of you, my Queen of Sweden grows in a tall, narrow form. She gets about 4 feet tall in my zone 5 garden, and has been remarkably disease resistant. Her blooms are single on a stem and make great cut flowers (kind of like a hybrid tea). Jubilee Celebration, on the other hand, seems to want to go sideways instead of up. Her blooms are beautiful, huge and have a wonderful range of shades and colors. I'm hoping as she matures we'll see stronger more upright canes, which often takes 3-4 years with Austins here in the north. Jubilee Clebration has also been very disease resistant for me, and both roses are good and hardy here in zone 5. Jubilee Celebration

| kr222, my Jubilee Celebration is about as high as it is wide--around 2.5 ft either way. I keep thinking that is a mistake, however, since the Austin catalog lists it as something like 4 ft tall and 3-3.5 ft wide. Don't know--maybe mine will take off one of these springs, but the smaller size is actually all right in the spot where it resides. Kate |

| Gorgeous pictures! I can't wait to get mine next season. It's good to have an idea of what to expect in regards to size. Now that it seems that JC is a bit shorter than the four feet listed in the DA catalog, it gives me more planting options. Are others experiencing the same this with Jubilee Celebration? I'm glad to hear that QOS is pretty upright. I know just the spot to put that one. Have any of you grown Fragrant Cloud? What size has yours grown to? Thanks for all the great information everyone! | Memorial Day hybrid tea is disease resistant in my garden. (as the OP stated that all hybrid teas need a fungicide treatment regularily), Memorial Day does not. |

| My Jubilee is clean in my no spray garden, but I do use Bayer systemic. Jubilee is small for me; barely 2x2 ft., and rather spindly. Very sweet little rose from Jackson Perkins.Beautiful colors and fragrance. No BS until very late in the season. Wonder if I got one from another vendor if it would be bigger? She is a winter survivor ( : |
