Rare Rose Auction by California Coastal Rose Society

Our ninth annual rare rose auction will be held Tuesday, November 17th at 5 pm California time. Many varieties of roses not otherwise in commerce will be available for bidding.

Instructions for out-of-town bidders are now posted on the California Coastal Rose Society site here
http://www.californiacoastalrose.com/2009_offsite_bidding.html
The key point is that provisions have been made to keep roses over the winter for those who can't take delivery now due to cold weather.

And of course, the available rose lists are here:

Wow Karl you must have one heck of a picky list, LOL!!!!!!!
My problem is that my want list is always much longer than it should be. That is how I end up with so many danged roses!!
I put my selections in to John and he is setting up a proxy bidder for me. I think I am bidding on a bout 10 of them, but I sincerely doubt I would get more than five or so with the $ limits I put on them. I structured many of my bids by what I can buy them for on-line.

I think the high price rose this year (and deservedly so in my opinion) was Takao at $72. Attached is a pic of my Takao today that I posted on HMF.

But the roses are not all expensive. I ended up with four roses:
Symphony (Austin yellow) $6
By Appt. (Harkness very fragrant apricot floribunda) $8
Poopsie (a new exhibition mini-flora not available in commerce anywhere) $17
Dorothy Anne (an older hybrid tea by Joe Winchel that is no longer in commerce) $19.
