I have a spot in my garden that would be a good home for a mini rose. In the vicinity I have a pink Hawaiian coral peony and a mariotta mini rose. I like the looks of Cream Veranda, Blush Veranda, and Little Sunset (although, if this one is as bright as some pictures I've seen, it may clash with the other plants). Does anyone have experience with these roses, or any better suggestions?

Thanks so much!
Sarah

Lot's of good mini's for that spot. Pierrine, Sweet Melody, Kristin, Black Jade, Giggles. Look them up on HMF. Heirloom Roses carries a good crop of mini,s. You want mini's that are winter hardy. The American Rose Society has the Mini Hall of Fame and other pages of mini's (ARS.ORG). Michigan Roses carries a few good mini's that are winter hardy. There are a BUNCH of mini's out there. Have fun trying to narrow it down to 1.

Softee is a bloom machine!!! Mine gets about 3 x 3 feet and is very healthy and hardy and is a soft creamy yellow aging to white.

My top three producers are Softee, Marshmallow Fluff, and Warm n Fuzzy. These all have blooms on them almost constantly!

In addition to Little Sunset (which is a very good mini), I grow a yellow Sweet Diana (excellent mini, somewhat upright bush about 2 ft tall) and Green Ice (white, somewhat spreading/sprawly plant--another excellent mini).

I don't think Little Sunset should pose any problems. Here is a pic of it in its more yellow-gold stage:

And here it is with pink flushed edges:

I did notice today, with our much cooler autumn weather, that the edges were a bit more dramatically colored--not exactly red, but getting closer to that color. It looked nice tucked between Austin's Shakespeare 2000 and a golden-yellow shrub (with a faint reddish edge) called Well-Being.
Here is Well Being, if you are not familiar with it:

Little Sunset is absolutely darling sitting at their feet.

Thank you for all of the advice! And the photos are beautiful. I am new to gardening, but I am already finding roses addicting! I found another little spot where I think Little Sunset would fit perfectly. And I'm going to have to go for a cream colored mini, too. I can't wait to see some blooms!
