I wish I could help you ID it but I would start rooting some cuttings in any case. It would be good insurance against it's loss.

Root up some cuttings. Take this picture and anything else you have on this rose and go down to Roses Unlimited in Laurens, S.C. There's a good chance they might carry it and be able to give you the name.

I'm not great at IDing roses, but looks like it might be Lafter, an old HT often sold by OGR nurseries. Check that one out on HMF and see what you think.

A second vote for Lafter.

Paul had some newer roses and his work with Mike Lowe suggests Autumn Sunset or even Westerland. Especially see the description of the foliage for these on helpmefind as well as the petal shapes.

I used to have 3 Westerlands, but they were darker than the picture, and huge. I grew them on a trellis.

I hope tell us what it is when you find out. It is lovely, and not like any of my roses.

Paul, last I knew, is also writing for Fine Gardening. His forum hasn't been terribly active lately, but that's not all that unusual for this time of year.

Another rose expert, Hannes, might also respond.

And I second Helpmefind.com. Although when I looked up Westerland, most of the pix didn't match yours.
