| My wife isn't happy with Double Delight. It is isn't performing as well as the other HT. I will exile it to the slope. I exiled RDV and it is happy there. She wants an orange HT as a replacement. |

| How about Cary Grant? Abundant and Enormous showy blooms that last a long time. |

| 'Wildfire' (JacDouce) Zary, 2004, has been superb, but I don't know if it is still commercially available. Grows like a weed, blooms like crazy, holds its color. |

| I've been really happy with Chris Evert. Good bloomer here, long lasting on the bush and in a vase, nice moderate scent, beautiful blue green foliage that contrasts nicely with the blooms. |
| Pat, orange is not usually my preferred color, but the blend on your Chris Evert is spectacular! Kate |
| Dolly Parton is a gorgeous orange HT but I don't have it myself so I can't say how it grows. I have a lot of orange blends but not many solid orange ones. I wouldn't recommend Fragrant Cloud because in my opinion the blooms blow way too fast. |
| Just Joey is more apricot than orange but I love it and this color was at the bottom of list. Not anymore! |
| I have one called Vavoom and it's quite pretty. |

| I'd get 2 or 3 Tropicana's and plant them fairly close together. |
| I don't have much experience with oranges, other than Tropicana and Folklore, they are both good roses. In my experience, Folklore blooms more. Pat's Chris Everett is gorgeous. |
| I like that Chris Evert too. Very pretty. I've been after a good cut flower orange for awhile. Either they don't like our heat or they freeze over our winters. Orange roses are well known to be susceptible to blackspot too. The best I've come up with was actually a Floribunda called Tuscan Sun. A multicolored coppery orange, it bloomed on single stems and made a good cut flower. Alas, one winter of below zero temperatures put an end to it. I see now though that Regan's will have it in stock for 2014 ( back by popular demand I guess). I'm very tempted to give it another shot......Maryl |

| Thanks everyone for your suggestions. My wife checked them all out. She decided on Just Joey, one of her mother's favorites. I got a brute at OSH for $13.10 out the door. |
| Ratdoghead's 'Cary Grant' suggestion is an excellent one. CG produces large, fragrant, petal-packed blooms with great substance. The color is a deep, clear, unblended orange. It's a variety that would thrive in the warmth of your zone 9 garden. |
