OT: Fragrance of Ferraria Bulbs

Hey everyone,

There have been some questions about bulbs on here lately and I thought I might have my bulb question addressed here as well.

I have read that the scent of Ferraria (particularly crispa, but this question goes for ferrariola and the genus as a whole) is very unpleasant to some noses. Others describe the scent as almond, licorice, or vanilla-like. Is the scent comparable to the "myrrh" scent in roses that some can't stand, but others enjoy?

Reading the description made me think of the "myrrh" fragrance in roses. I ordered some Ferraria bulbs that have yet to arrive and was curious about their scent. I don't know how many posters here have tried them, but I hope a few.

Jay
