| Very good! Well-packed zero damage, plants 16-18" tall, canes on the HTs & others more than pencil-thick. Flaming Peace--had it long ago, striking bicolor, good fragrance Invested in a stack of Lowe's Happi-gro potting soil bags. This seems to be a good fluffy mix with good drainage & shredded pine bark--$2.40/40lb bag. Maan, I gotta lot of holes to dig for next spring. But all the plants this fall are very good. |

| Hmm...I don't have a single one of those. Once they get established, I see some trades happening here (kidding...well maybe I'm not kidding). I think my order with Vintage has gotten out of hand, but I'm really in love with each and every rose I've ordered from them. Spring is going to be like Christmas all over again for me! Tammy |

| Hey, you have my e-mail! I'm looking forward to spring ;) |
|
| I took a peek at my cuttings the other day, and it doesn't look like I've lost too many...crossing fingers they do well :) |

| I have only one on your list, William R. Smith. I love the silvery pink flowers, that can sometimes get very large. It looks unlike any other rose in my garden, and is one of my favorites. Ingrid |
|
| I love my 'Flaming Peace'. Afternoon shade for best color and to minimize cane burn, quite vulnerable to black spot, even here in Southern California. Flowers short lived but gorgeous. |

| I just placed "Part 2" of my Vintage order, and I think this will be all I'm getting from them this year. I have no issues with the company by any means -- I'm just going to try out some east-coast nurseries for filling my new garden here to save on shipping. Basically, the second order is stuff I want but wasn't available on my side of the country, or would have cost more because of shipping gallon-sized plants. Both of these orders will come the third week of April 2013. And I think between the two orders and what I already have in pots, this is about half of the roses that will go in the garden (or in the pot ghetto, or as gifts to friends if there's no more room....you all know the drill). Part 1 Bourbons -- Mlle Blanche Lafitte, Mme Dore, Sophie's Perpetual Hybrid Perpetual -- Souvenir du Dr. Jamain Hybrid Teas -- Crimson Glory (VID), Night (Lady Sackville) Portlands -- Blanc de Vibert, Rose du Roi (original) Tea-Noisette -- Jaune Desprez Gallicas -- Belle de Crecy, Duchesse de Montebello, Georges Vibert, Sissinghurst Castle, Superb Tuscan, Tricolore de Flandre Hybrid Chinas -- Duchesse d'Angouleme, Nouveau Monde Hybrid Perpetuals -- Georg Arends, Monsieur Boncenne Hybrid Teas -- Lemon Spice, Mirandy, Oklahoma (all VID) Polyantha -- Marie Pavie Musk/Species X -- Reverend Seidel Bourbons -- Mme Isaac Pereire, Souvenir de Victor Landeau English -- Belle Story (was actually a mistake, but I like it) Gallicas -- Charles de Mills, Cardinal de Richelieu and Darlow's Enigma (be he classed as "hybrid musk" or "climber" or whatever). :-) ~Christopher |

| Christopher you will like Lemon Spice. This is one of the best yellows I grow. The scent is wonderful. MIP has amazing great fragrance. Give it lots of room and a good sunny spot then stand back. |
|
| I can't wait for spring! I'm very into fragrances and that's what drew me to Lemon Spice. I got to experience MIP when I planted roses in Buffalo, but left it all behind and am starting over here. I'm re-ordering a bunch which I planted before. My space here, however, is limited, so most of the roses will have to be either low and spreading or tall and gangly. I'm putting the gallicas and other vigorous once-blooming roses below limbed-up evergreens. Darlow's Enigma and Secret Garden Musk Climber (and perhaps two others) will be in bright pockets between the evergreens, climbing into them (I'll have to prune for some more open spaces). Their job is to perfume the yard, and it's enough that I see white dots of single flowers peeking about. The small and medium repeat-blooming roses will go in the new bed around the raised back porch and near the fence (where there's less root competition and no shade until 2pm). The other tall gangly roses which repeat and have big flowers (like MIP and the others) will go up against the fence and railings of the porch. Souv du Dr. Jamain is going to be wrapped against the white railing on my front porch, in dappled light. I can't have large shrubs which take up big footprints -- but I can do gangly climbers and wrap them against things. Everything will be grown-on in nursery pots at least until autumn before being planted out. And the red hybrid teas will stay in pots -- as the "thrillers" in larger containers, with annuals as "fillers" and "spillers." :-) ~Christopher |

| glad to hear about William R. Smith--he was an impulse buy. And Flaming Peace--only got a couple a flowers off the old one before I lost it but they were stunning. It was on the custom root list for so long I was happy to see it offered as a regular band & added it. Christopher, Madame Isaac is so gorgeous & fragrant. In the old place I had her pegged & she had so many flowers that way. I can't have gallicas, but the pictures are so gorgeous. Won't you have some lovely roses in a few months! |
