Jeri

It's a new Hulthemia hybrid, Jeri. It was bred by Peter James, of Blue for You and Eyes for You fame. His Art Nouveau is also quite interesting and healthy so far. I'm really liking his roses. Kim

I have Dream Come True, gorgeous! It has better than average disease resistance for me and is very winter hardy. The blooms are a very lovely creamy yellow with a red edge and are sort of a ball or pompom shaped. I don't mean like balled as in not opening but the centers are low and rounded not high and pointed. I'm not sure what the term for that is. No fragrance that I detect though.

I think that is called "bull nosed", Seil. Kordes Perfecta was notorious for bull nosing which prevented it from being exhibited much of the time. Kim

I have had Dream Come True for two years. What a vigorous plant. Wow! Mine has grown over six feet. Constantly in bloom-even now, even in August when its 100+ degrees.
Although I hear that this rose does not have a fragrance-mine does. It smells like apricots. It wafts.
Long lasting in vase.
Hope you enjoy yours...
Tea

Thanks, Kim! DCT will never be an exhibition HT either because of that form but it is a beautiful garden rose!

Hello Ladyrose,

First I want to thank you for leading me to the information that Frank Bernardella's work is preserved. I found out that a wholesale nursery bought his stock. Thank you.

Also, I beg, plead, implore you to share the wisdom of your experiences. I read in your post (link below): "I had about 120 to 127 bushes. But, I kept fertilizing them, so they all died." Please start a new thread and tell us how this happened. I believe we can all learn from your experience, but not if you don't share it.

Thank you very much in advance,
Chris

I can find VERY few pics of Peter Frank's Hulthemias. Pics of Jim Sproul's make me drool, especially his new seedlings derived from "Darlowe's Enigma".

This is my third year with Ketchup & Mustard. My DH is very supportive of my gardening, but really doesn’t get too excited about anything other than our vegetables. Ketchup & Mustard is one of only two roses he’s ever picked out and requested that I plant. He loves this rose, so it stays in my garden. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't grow it. It’s a rather good rose except that it blackspots terribly here. I’m just not crazy about the blooms. I think it’s the contradiction of the harsh coloring verses the small frilly bloom form that doesn’t appeal to me. It is a prolific bloomer; the blooms last a long time and then self clean; the red never fades or burns in all day full sun here (the yellow does soften some as the blooms age); it stays short which is fairly uncommon for a rose here (mine is still under 4 ft in its third year and about as wide); the foliage is a bright, shiny green (when not covered in BS); no fragrance whatsoever to my nose; weak canes that droop badly in our stormy spring; the blooms will nod after a rain, but the petals themselves are very rain tolerant.

My camera doesn't capture the brightness of the tomato red & yellow very well, but here are a couple of pictures anyway:

I prefer the blooms when they are nodding after a rain:
