Thought I'd share a few pictures of of my front and back gardens. Sorry they look so hazy. I think you get the idea, though.

This is Buff Beauty in all her glory.

Wow, lovely garden and roses.

How old is Buff Beauty? I don't have one, just curious how long it takes to have that size of a rose.

gardenatlanta, your front and back yard looks very beautiful! I love that you have the room to give the roses space and let them grow to their mature size. My favorite picture is the first one of the front yard. This bed seems to be so balanced and radiates harmony. I have one question: the two reddish roses on the first photo in the middle and to the left are these two bushes of Rose de Rescht?

Thanks for posting!

gardennatlanta, THIS is what I was hoping more people would do, show pictures of their gardens rather than just roses. Yours is absolutely beautiful, with the roses playing a large part in the landscaping but supported by trees and shrubs and smaller plants. It's a very romantic and lush look, very much what I'd like my garden to be. Can you tell us how long it's taken your garden to reach this stage?

Wonderful photos - thank you for posting them.

I'm also wondering what the name is of the rose in the third picture on the left side. The soft pink coloring and beauty of the bush as a whole are stunning.

Beautiful! I like the picture with the bench the most. Wouldn't mind sitting there ALL day, admiring your garden.

Thanks for sharing!

Denise: Buff Beauty is 5 years old, I think. (maybe 6 but no more than that).

Christina: Thanks for the kind words about my garden. I find it very refreshing, even when I'm working. Yes, those roses are Rose de Rescht. Good eye.

Ingrid: As usual, you are very gracious and encouraging. We bought this house in 2001. The front garden came with the crab apple, a few hydrangeas, some orange daylilies and tons of liriope--which has been a bear to get rid of. I expanded the bed, added the path (which you can see on the first picture). The arbor has been a later addition. The first arbor I put up had to be replaced. I'm trying to get Annie Laurie McDowell to grow up one side but she is a VERY S-L-O-W grower. The first roses I planted here are all gone so the oldest roses here are 6 or 7 years old.

The light pink rose in the 3rd picture is Marie Daly.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. The hazy pictures, I think, help hide some of the weeds.

Jeff, I'm beyond thrilled that the rose I asked about is Marie Daly since I recently acquired a band and was questioning its gardenworthiness, but no more! I hope mine turns out to be as lovely as yours.

The more I look at your pictures the more I love the spirit of your garden. My only caveat is that I see too much grass. There are ways to fix that of course!

Ingrid, You make me smile. I really like Marie Daly. Her new stems are a really pretty maroon color that looks really nice with the small pink flowers. I also like how the frangrance travels to you as you walk buy--you don't have to stick your nose into a bloom to smell it.

I'm very flattered that you like the spirit of my garden. All too often I tend to see how far it needs to go to get to where I want it. I've planted some things too close together and they need to be moved and some places still need something small to grow underneath. And don't get me started thinking about those awful wild violets.

I'm working on something restful and peaceful. I hope I'm getting close.

I hear you on the grass. I would love to take more out but my DW wants areas for the children to play. What does she think the street is for? *grins and ducks*
