Some Austins and others

I'm still trying to encourage the Austins/old roses gardeners to make more use of this gallery. I mean, you folks grow such beautiful roses--take some pics and let us see them--please!

I grow a fair number of Austins and a few older type roses, so here are the latest ones to open in this early spring in my garden. Hope you enjoy.

William Shakespeare 2000--always one of my favorites.
Photobucket

Molineux--part of a larger 3-in-1 bush. I really love this one.
Photobucket

Mayflower--this Austin impresses me more each year, and this may be the prettiest pic of it I've ever taken.
Photobucket

Anne Bolyn--a shorter Austin. I'm still waiting to see what all it will do. This is its third year in this spot, so hopefully it will let her rip this year.
Photobucket

Mortimer Sackler--I think some of you have seen this pic before. Morty is such a reliable rose--and pretty.
Photobucket

Golden Showers--not exactly an old rose, but certainly an older rose in my garden--about 25 years old!
Photobucket

Mrs. John Laing--Hybrid Perpetual. I have two of these. Adore those big fat blooms!
Photobucket

Well, I see I failed to take pics of several other Austins and of my two hybrid musks and my rugosa. I do need to get busy on this camera stuff! And there are a couple polyanthas that have not bloomed yet. In the meantime, here's a wonderful Bourbon:

Mystic Beauty--oops, you caught me. This pic is from last fall--as the brown leaves indicate. Mystic Beauty is actually blooming splendidly this spring, but for some reason I can't explain, I failed to take a pic of her also--which is why I sneaked an old one in instead (sorry!).

I'd love to see some of your old roses and Austins also. : )

Kate--these pictures are wonderful----I will have to post some older pictures--I broke my old camera and haven't really learned how to use the new one----too many other things taking up my time----I will have to make an effort to learn before the roses bloom

Kate, I really enjoyed looking at your photos. They have a well defined but a beautifully soft look about them. Thank you for posting them.

I post mostly on the Texas forum, but check in here every once in a while hoping to see some rose photos like there used to be a few years back. Since it's been a good spring in Texas after the grueling drought and heat of last summer I'll follow your lead and post a few photos soon.

Oh roselee, please do post some photos soon. I'd love to see them--and hope others join you in posting more in the future. Like you, I remember some of those wonderful photos from a few years back. We need more of that now, don't we!

What a beautiful pic of The Mayflower! I love the fragrance of this rose. Your pics brighten a cold day.

I love all of the photos on this part of the forum, and I hope to see more, yes!

I may even snap some of the roses I have that are not often photographed with the caveat that I only have a cell phone camera, and I'm no artiste ;)

I still have more buds than anything right now :)

meredith, we look forward to seeing your pics. One of the cool things about photographing roses is that even when our photos aren't as "professional" as they could be, our roses are so beautiful that everybody still enjoys the pics anyway!

Hope you have "first blooms" real soon!

Kate
