It was a fine day in Brooklyn and some of my favorite usual suspects were out.
Thor a magnificent red climber I had to shoot from the bottom I saw the iris beyond the fence and wanted the dept of field.

This is a rare one ARNOLD a single red Rugosa from the late 1800's

Armide a true gem sometimes mistake for madam hardy

One of the best reds there is and great fragrance but alas not a great repeat Hybrid Perpetual Hugh Dickson

James Mitchell

I'll edit and post more tomorrow but the blue bell fields were still going strong

I am in love with Thor. LaBrea your photos like a beautiful dream.

Great pictures, labrea! I love Thor too, there are two of them at the Heritage. I don't photograph them because the red never comes out well (if I adjust white balance the leaves turn blue), but you captured it well. The bluebell fields are amazing, it was great to see that.

Wonderful photography and subjects. The color of Thor is incredible, even though I don't usually care for red roses. It's really special, as is James Mitchell. All your pictures are just wonderful!

Gorgeous. The bluebell field just amazes me each year. Now I can envision it since you pointed out where they bloom. I wish my camera captured reds like yours. Wonder if that is due only to my incompetence or also is a difference between Canon and Nikon.
(BTW, how much of the Cranford was removed?)

Hi Labrea...
Are these pics of the rose garden next to the BAM? I think it is. I grew up there but havn't been back for about 20 years. Hubby and I will be visiting the area this fall but the rose blooms will not we what they are now for sure.
I love all your photos...thanks so much.
