about the only thing I like more than roses is woofers. I have four and my kids say they are spoiled more than I ever spoiled my kids. I don't know about that, but they ask for little and give so much in return. . . kinda like my roses. Love the pics. Love the roses. Love the woofers.

Those are very pretty Carrie. Tell me something. First do you have a problem with thrips? Second, if you do how does Jean Bach Sisley fair with the little sucking critters? I have one in a pot that I'm gonna either put in the garden or give away. Since I have so many birds I can't spray for the thrips and I'm in the process of ridding my garden of thrips magnets. As bad as I hated to I shovel pruned a huge Duchesse de Brabant this morning. Two years and not a decent looking bloom. Hamp

Carrie, I can no longer resist. You have enabled me to get Mary Washington, Bolero, Mme Bravy, and.... Goodness! If you continue on posting your beautiful garden, I may end up with ALL your selections. Teehee, I kind of like being enabled :)

Hamp, I know the thrips are there - they crawl all into my nose when I smell the flowers! But I hardly ever notice damage. It just has never been a problem. My DdB has never had a problem. I've got a few roses I'm probably gonna sp this year due to balling, veggie centers, and discolored blooms - but if the thrips are causing these problems then they are doing it to a select 3 or 4 roses and that's it. I don't spray. Aimee,

All lovely, but the first photo with the green lush vista beyond the arbor, is dreamy and special. Thanks Hamp! Juliet

An absolutely gorgeous garden and cute fur persons. Your roses are huge and to die for. When you said you're revamping the garden did you mean that these huge roses are gone? I hope not; it must have taken years for them to attain that size, and they're so beautiful. Jean Bach Sisley is awesome; I've never seen this large a specimen of it. I so agree about Bolero. I don't have it but wish now that I had bought it instead of Classic Woman. It could still be in my future. Thank you for these really wonderful pictures. Ingrid

Thanks everyone. Ingrid- no, the revamp was done earlier this spring. I took out some monsters - mostly Austins that were huge and disease ridden and not fragrant enough to be worth the garden space. The first 3 pictures were of my old rose garden and shows lots of gaps from where the removed roses were. Half in the roses in that garden are gone. That Jean Bach Sisley is only 3 years old!

Wow, what an amazing garden you have, Carrie! Thank you so much for posting these wonderful pictures. I am always excited to see so mature roses. I love your Mary Rose and Scepter'd Isle, but boy they look huge! Can you tell me how large and how old these roses are? Seeing your photos I am so happy that I ordered both recently. You also have enabled me to put Bolero on my rose wish list for the future. I have heard so many good things about this rose already, but seeing your photo did the trick ;-). Please post more pics! Oh, I almost forgot I love your dogs, too. Christina

Christina, They are both 3 years old- as are Mary Washington and Maggie and Renae and lots of the BIG roses! Scepter d Isle reaches the top of my shed - which I edited out of the picture cause it's not cute! So 6' maybe? or a little taller? Mary Rose is shorter, maybe 5'. Both are tall and arching. You could put other roses around them because their width comes from the arch at the top instead of the growth you see on teas which is straight out from the bottom. They would pretty much arch up and over the other roses or perennials. Both are as wide as tall.

Thanks Carrie for the size info of Mary Rose and Scepter'd Isle. If they are getting that big for you it is very likely that they will even top out that size in my climate. It is so important to have this info to place them correctly. Many thanks, again! To me it is also amazing that they reach this size only in three years! I hope mine will grow as beautiful for me than yours do in your garden :-)! Christina

Beautiful! I love BHdS, but I did not choose her because of her 'largeness'. Mary Rose, Mme Bravy are great, too. Is your Bolero the Romantica? And where did you get it? I might be tempted. Sherry

Thanks for the great pictures of your amazing yard. Sooo much space! Your furry friends and flowery friends all look good. I'd love to see more pictures of your pup- I enjoy a good hound. I have a Bolero in a large pot. Easier to smell. Karen
