CAN'T STAND IT. LOVE THIS ROSE SO MUCH.
I can't even imagine how beautiful it will be when it gets bigger and is climbing my-yet-to-be-bought arbor. :D :D

Don't you just love the scent!!!

Beware of those thorns if you place it near your arbor....aw, who cares?

As long as you can enjoy the beauty and fragrance, who cares about minor scrapes....hey, that's why they make bandages :)

More pictures please...

I can see why you love it. I like the porcelain quality to the bloom, very nice.

aw thanks you guys!

Audrey, when I was first choosing roses for climbers I tried hard for non-thorny ones with lax canes since I'm a newbie... but.... I loved Sombreuil too much to not get it... so she will be one of my only scary thorny climbers. :) I'll just have to wear gloves.

Though, I'm a little more dubious about the entire "it's just thorns" endeavor now that I heard about flesh eating bacteria. ( Necrotizing fasciitis )

This is a great rose. Thought you'd be inspired by a picture of mine earlier this spring.

I somehow do not worry too much about the thorns, good rose gloves usually solve that problem. I also noticed that nowadays my skin suffers more from non-thorny shrubs in the garden, since I am sometimes lazy to put the gloves on when pruning them - which usually ends up with gazilion of bruises from them evil twigs.

I had the good fortune to get a whiff of this lovely rose a few years ago when I visited ARE-----

I loved the fragrance but didn't think it would do well in my zone I remember my sister saying "now That is how a rose should smell"

Love the pictures----
