Some photos from today

Wollerton Old Hall started blooming this week, and so far I'm extremely happy with it. The blooms are much larger than I expected, and so far have been lasting for many days. The colour is more 'light apricot" than "cream", but the colour does fade a little each day. The scent is very, very nice. I expect this to be a very good rose.

Princess Anne also started blooming. I really liked this rose at David Austin's Gardens, and I hope it will do well for me in mine.

St Cecilia is doing very well, and the scent is truly fantastic, I absolutely love this rose.

Lady Emma Hamilton Has also just started blooming. Good scent.

Princess Alexandra of Kent continues to produce huge, magnificent blooms. Fantastic.

The Wedgewood Rose has such a delicate charm to it, but so far the heads just absolutely hang on it. Maybe best grown as a climber where you can look up at the flowers to really appreciate it. Of course, it is just the first year, so it might get stronger stems with time.

Claire Austin is just about to bloom, will post some pictures when she does!

Thanks for looking,
robert

Aaaah, Robert, what a treat to look at your roses! The first shot of St. Cecelia is simply stunning! I have seen this rose on my recent trip to England and agree it is a wonderful one. I also especially love the shot of The Wedgewood Rose. Keep us updated, if she is able to hold up her blooms on her own in the future, when she gets more mature.

Thanks for sharing these beautiful rose pics!

Very good, Robert! You are such a gentleman to share your treasures here. Princess Alexandra always is a beauty and so photogenic a rose. I am very happy to have her in my garden too. Princess Anne looks very pretty in your photo. Tell me Robert, does she have lavender hues along with pink? Your photo of her seems to show this. I would get that rose in a heartbeat, if that is the case. Well thanks again, Robert.

These are all such elegant and beautiful roses. I think Wedgewood Rose is my favorite, but you've made choosing very difficult.

I'm literally swooning over St Cecilia. Breathtaking. Your garden must be heaven. Such stunning roses all of them..I also am smitten by Wedgewood..I'm sure that both my new crushes are due to the fact that I can't grow them here..oh well..there's something to be said for the ones we can't have..

Beautiful!

I have the same problem so far with The Wedgwood Rose. She's so sprawly at her young age, too. She's so beautiful that I'm thinking of moving her to where she could climb and then nod down at folks, yes. I can't tell yet, either :)

Hi Christina, good news, I had a couple of later blooms of The Wedgewood Rose that did indeed keep from nodding, so I suspect that as the plant ages it builds up stronger stems.

Juliet, there is a slight purple cast to the flowers, but nothing as strong as many other roses. What makes Princess Anne so wonderful is how the colours fade as the flower ages. I really like this rose.

Renee, I'm very, very pleased with Wollerton Old Hall. I think this may be one of Austin's best roses in years. The colour is great, the shape is great, the fragrance is intense and it just keeps putting out flowers. Fantastic so far.

Hi Ingrid, The Wedgewood Rose has an old fashioned delicacy that I really like. I think of my mom when I see it, and know that she would have found it irresistible. It's soft, and frilly and delicate.

Birdwing, St Cecilia is one of my absolute favourite roses. I love everything about it, but especially the scent, it's wonderful.

Meredith, I would recommend growing The Wedgewood Rose as a climber, even if the stems do build up some more strength, this is a rose that just screams for a trellis.

Hi Krista, I'm glad you're enjoying your Wedgewood too!

Kate, thanks for the nice words on the photos. I'm adding a few more photos here, including another of the Lady, and I think I like this one even more.

Hi Seil, thanks for the kind thoughts, and here are a few more photos from the past few weeks. The entire gallery can be found on my site linked below.
