Remy! Nice to "meet" you!

I love Fantin Latour... so adorable throwing up brances! L. Gervais is pretty amazing, too. Wow!

Remy, you certainly have lovely roses. I have to say St. Cecilia is my favorite. I'll definitely have to learn more about it. How nice that you've included a picture of yourself. Maybe we should all do that once in a while to get to know each other better.

Hi Remy, it's nice to "meet" you. Gruss is such a great a rose, I've been growing it for many years, love the blooms and it's surprisingly hardy.

Great pics of some wonderful roses.

Remy, that is a lovely photo of yourself and your wonderful Leotine Gervaise!
I am really looking forward to my young Leotine Gervaise one day looking like your one. Your Fatin Latour looks great too, and your other rose photos look good as well.

Thanks Everyone!

Florence,
I thought of you when I posted my pic. You're one of the few who puts herself in shots though sometimes sort of hidden, lol.

Annabeth,
Thanks. You must be a shoe lover like myself.

Tao,
I'm sorry you seem to have the wrong rose. Leontine is an excellent rambler. I have never fertilized it or sprayed it. It as you can see is very vigorous and floriferous. The foliage also looks good all season. It is very disease resistant.

Rosemeadow,
It won't take long for it to become a monster!

Just beautiful....I can`t help but ask, How do you prune Leontine? I have a New Dawn that is similar size and I am not sure what to do? Your roses are lovely and I enjoyed this post very much. Lesley

Lesley,
Thanks! Don't be afraid of doing the wrong thing. I used to worry about it and my husband would say they are weeds! lol. He was right in that it really is hard to do something wrong to a climber/rambler because of how vigorous they are. Unless you are cutting the canes off at the base of the shrub, you really can't do anything bad.
I tie up some stems to the arbor and fence. So some canes are long going up and over the arbor and some are running along the fence. Then many are shortened. So if you were here and looked close you would see canes of varying lengths.
In the spring, I really only cut off dead and not very good looking canes. Everything else, I move back or cut into place if it looks like it is going to get out of bounds right away. This time of year, I really hack off a lot because it seems to grow a mile a minute.
I hope that helps,
Remy
