| Mme. Cornelissen wakes up and finds herself ... not in the South. "Where am I?" she shrieks.
Devoniensis sniffs the ground. "Hmm, not red clay. Where did you say I am?" "Well, the air smells nice, anyway," decided Felicia. "Little wet here," shivered Pink Gruss. "My bones are a achin'." "Hmmph. Well, I like it here," croons Ambridge Rose. "Well, this ain't Alabama," Old Grey Cemetery Noisette yawned. No, Toto, you're not in Alabama anymore. Gean |

Hamp, thanks for the comment. The pics aren't beautiful, but the roses in the garden are. First blooms in a new garden are always a little special, to the gardener, anyway. Gean

Mme. Cornelissen looks like a star shes so pretty. Nice rich soil plenty of moisture a little chill to bring out the deeper hues. Sounds like happy roseland.

I love your sense of humor-----and your roses are lovely--- sounds like you are in a special rose-growing area--- Hope they all adjust soon. Florence

Gean, I imagine that my Duchesse de Brabant wonders where she is, LOL. Beautiful pics, I love the look of Old Grey Cemetery Noisette.

Thanks, Joe. I hear it's happy roseland, just waiting to find out what happens... Florence, being silly is something I love almost as much as roses. Thanks for your good wishes. Krista, surely your DdB is used to your northern latitutudes by now! She's a survivor for sure, for you. You must really treat her right! Old Grey Cemetery Noisette was young when I dug her up and sent her north, and I cannot wait to see how she does here. Thanks for looking and commenting, ya'll. Gean

I think your roses are VERY pretty. I have Mme. Cornelissen and love her unusual shape. I hope you derive great enjoyment from your spring blooms. Ingrid

Hey, Gean, have the locals noticed their Southern drawl yet? Better tell them to hush. They're all lovely. I don't have Mme Cornelissen. She's pretty cool. Sherry

Ingrid, I love MC also. I got to visit Hamp/ Old Blush last fall and he gifted me with Mme. Cornelissen and G. Nabonnand. Those are the first blooms I have ever seen on MC and think she is spectacular too (thanks, Hamp!!) Sherry, MC is confused by the weird temps and all of the rain, but she just blooms anyway. Worse, they don't seem to care what the locals think, so I can't shut them up. When I can't stand their whining anymore, I just go inside. To get even, they bloom anyway, but they bloom weird colors. Julia Child was bright orange. A red climber is pale pink. Zeffy, like Florence, is even tempered, the right color and fragrant. Roses are a mess, aren't they?
