| This was photographed at Lake Crescent in Olympia National Park. I'd never seen such an enormous thicket of roses, which I THINK is r. californica. If it's not and you know for sure, please correct me as I'm just guessing. It was beautiful, though.

| You're right, Sue. I found distribution maps of both californica and nutkana. Rosa californica isn't mapped any further north than Oregon, but nutkana is in most of the western states. They sure look alike to my eyes, though. thanks for the help, Sue. |
