| I have complained and complained about thin canes and blooms in the dirt (mostly balled on top of that). I must have waved the shovel enough because I think my Janet has turned a corner. It has given me some huge canes (about 6') loaded with blooms most of which stand up and open! My shrub is 4 years old now.
Here is part of a cluster of 38 blooms and buds on one cane. I had to stand on a chair for this shot:-). As you see the middle bloom balled but the rest are opening. Here is a closeup of some of them. They mostly start out pink and are apricoty when fully open. Very tea-like blooms to my eye. And some others... Fragrant Masterpiece Classic Woman. Mine reached 6' in one year. It is in half-day sun and is completely clean. Nice fragrance. Clematis and roses. Masha |

| Very pretty! I like the way they change colors. How is the scent and disease resistance for you? |

| I think your Janet is really lovely now. Mine never balled and the blooms never drooped so it may be more of a natural for a warm, dry climate, but yours seems to have gotten its act together now and is awesome. My Classic Woman is gone. For me it was the worst rose for mildew of all and had tiny, crispy blooms. I just couldn't stand to look at it any more. Yours is wonderful and I think it's true what Jeri often says: location, location, location. Your Fragrant Masterpiece is an exceptionally beautiful rose. Thanks for posting. Ingrid |

| Your Janet is very lovely, and indeed, blooms remind tea roses a lot. |

| Sigh. So wonderful. Renee |

| Masha, I take it, your Janet can take heat rather well? Also, which rose that is behind the clematis? |
|
| Thank you. Lori, it is very clean for me, but no scent:-(. The huge blooms are attractive enough to keep even with no fragrance. As you see it shows extensive thrip damage, and some blooms still ball of course... Ingrid, I am sorry about your Classic Woman. Maybe another rose will work for you for cutting... In my yard, Yves Piaget is always mildewy, but not badly enough to dig out. Some blooms always ball too, which hasn't happened with Classic Woman... Elemire, Janet has big blooms with a high petal count- good for heat:-). The rose behind the clem is Crown Princess Margareta. Masha |

| Lots of beautiful blooms, I can see why you are impressed with Janet. I love the look of the clematis with the roses. |

| My Janet just crawls on the ground it seems. What did you do, other than waving the shovel? I would love mine to quit trying to take over large areas of ground and start taking up some air space like yours! |
|
| Hello, Ken, My Janet spent the first two years "crawling" no matter what I did. If you look at the background, you will see lots of green ties I use to tie up those weak stems. Now, in its third year, it finally gave me two strong thick canes about 7' tall each with huge candelabra of blooms. I have more pictures of it on another thread somewhere in the gallery. I was actually resolved to grow it as a climber, but if it keeps making those huge canes it won't work and it will be a huge shrub instead. Right now it is half and half:-) Masha |

| Your photos are so pretty. Janet looks like a real winner. I'm surprised to find another person who grows Fragrant Masterpiece. Despite the bs, I still love this rose. Carla |
