| One of my absolute favorite colours among my garden roses are deep wine red roses - call them Burgundy or Merlot or Bordeaux coloured - your choice! Some even becomes almost purple: I love them among all my ultra fragrant pink garden roses:
The First 3 roses are once-blooming, but have for once blooming roses a pretty long bloomtime -4-5 weeks:
Tuscany - Old Velvet Rose:
Henri Martin - Moss Rose:
Centifolia à fleurs doubles violettes:
A perfect flower of William Shakespeare 2000:
Fully opened Munstead wood flowers (bleached a bit by intense June sun):
OK, OK, OK a modern rose - I know - but repeats so well and has a very interesting colour:
Burgundy Ice:
And not a rose but a new Dahlia I filled a spot waiting for a rose: Interesting colour:
Dahlia 'Osirium':

| This is such a special series of pictures, Niels. You've really outdone yourself. As a lover of this range of colors, you've made my day. Tuscany Superb is without doubt my favorite. Burgundy Iceberg (as we call it here) is in my garden also and it really never seems to stop blooming. Thanks for all this loveliness. Ingrid |

I love this colour group. Henri Martin and Tuscany looks beautiful. I will be adding them this year. Thanks for those wonderful photos. BTW, how is your Gertrude Jekyll hedge performing so far in your garden? I've always admired your Gertrude Jekyll hedge and hope one day, I could have a hedge full of GJ in my garden. |

| Niels, this happen to be one of my favorite color groups of roses, too! And I agree this color goes very well with all kind of shades of pink roses. The bush shot of Henri Martin is amazing! How large is that bush (height and width)? I love Moss roses but unfortunately they are supposed to not doing that well here in SoCa. So far I only have tried Salet, but I got it as a band and it has not bloomed yet. At least it is putting out 2 basal shoots, which is encouraging to see. Centifolia à fleurs doubles violettes is new to me, what an a gorgeous color! I love the flower shape with the reflexed petals and color of Munstead Wood. If I am not mistaken this is a new David Austin rose. Is it fragrant for you? I grow Burgundy Iceberg, too and absolutely love it when it carries its scrumptious velvety-burgundy color, but it turns into a screaming pink rose here in the Summer heat, which I really dislike. Does this rose changing its color in Summer to pink for you, too? Thanks for posting these beauties! Christina |

Outrageously gorgeous! I don't drink either, Kristin, but I LOVE 100% grape juice! These colors are just to die for! I'm hoping my new baby Reine des Violettes will give me some of these beautiful colors, as well. It was my little sister's favorite color. She wore it all the time, and I'm kinda picking up the banner for her here in loving it, too. Just so happens to look great with silver hair, too...so I'm all set! Cheers! Barb |
