| Nice photos aimee, The Prince is quite bright! Leda rose looks interesting, but somehow from photos I still can't figure what is nice/special about her, looks a bit like just usual wild rose? |
|
| What a great hummingbird pic! The Prince is a wonderful rose, thanks for posting. |

| elemire - The Prince earlier in the spring was darker... but now is lighter, not sure why, it's growing a lot right now though so it seems to be happy. I like it either way. :) as to Leda Rose, I chose it for a shade tolerant rose, but honestly, I'm a bit on the fence about it. I may nix it eventually, but I'll let it be for a year or so. When it tries to bloom, it does put out a lot of buds, but I've been pinching them, mostly. Thanks Krista! I have about 4 hummingbirds right now that are all fighting each other for my flowers and feeder. They're so cute! |
|
| Aimeekitty, My Princes are only one growing season old but, they also were much lighter when it was warmer. I think that is the case with most roses. Your hummingbird is so sweet. I noticed this summer that they squeak like a mouse when they are eating. I tried not to laugh out loud because I didn't want to scare them away. Thanks, Kitty |

| The second one looks like Lyda Rose, not Leda, which is a hybrid musk. I grow that one too and it's a beauty. |
|
| Aimee, might be that your Lyda needs a bit of volume to look nice, as it is a case with some single bloomers. :) Humming birds sound exotic to me, I only have ordinary great tits in the garden and occasional sparrow/finch. |

| Oh, sorry, you're totally right, it's Lyda rose, I was misspelling it. :) I went and reread RVR's glowing recommendation of Lyda, so I'm going to keep her for a while. It's not entirely fair that I'm judging a rose on it's first season and while I'm pinching off most of the blooms. My cat thinks the hummingbirds are there entirely for his enjoyment. He never goes outside. He squeaks at them as if they were his toy. We have about four of them and they dive bomb each other, except two of them appear to be friends and will feed at the same time. |

| Beautiful! This is one I just got from Rogue Vallley. I'm clearing away some other roses to make room for this one. |
|
| Florence, I always swoon over your garden pictures; the large bushes look so romantic. I'm guessing that's your Zeffy making friends with Lyda. Beautiful! Ingrid |

| Thank you Aimee and Zeffy for beautiful photos in the midst of winter. Lyda in full bloom is charming. I was suprised to see how light The Prince was. Mine is never in bloom in the cold months so I've only seen it purple. |

| Ingrid---You are right ----that is one of my Zeffys making friends with Lyda Rose---I have several Zeffys around the yard---she is so easy to propagate and I love how smooth her canes are---- Florence |
