With the threat of rain looming, I cut all the roses I could find and put them in the house. I took pictures of a few that stayed in the garden.

Cels Multiflora

Madame Dore

Burgundy Iceberg

Charles Darwin

Lovely, photos of your roses.

I was surprised, to see some roses still in bloom after -1°C.temperatures in Zone 6.

Lovely pics Ingrid, nice roses and nice statuette. :D What is the yellow with red outer petals rose in the third pic from the bottom (the one on the left)?

Great pictures, Ingrid. That Cels Multiflora is really lovely. I see your Rosette Delizy is still blooming, mine is wonderful this time of year.

Ingrid, with this post you have outdone yourself! All the small bouquets that you cut for indoors are sooo.... beautiful, they just take my breath away.

But first to the roses in your garden. I love Cels Multiflora. What a delicate looking beauty! I really do like the color of Charles Darwin, which is very important to me since I just ordered this rose ;-). It surprises me though that the bloom has not more petals. Is this just CD's winter look or is this the way he normally appears in your garden?

The bouquets truly show what variety of great roses you have in you garden. I have two questions: What is the huge yellow rose in the smallest bouquet in the middle in the fourth photo from the bottom? And the yellow rose in the middle in the foreground in the third photos from the bottom is that Charles Darwin, too?

Thanks for posting. It was really a pleasure to look at your photos. Very motivating to get out and work in the garden, too :-)!

Thanks so much for the compliments everyone. I'm glad you enjoyed the roses.

Elemire, the rose you asked about is the one that Masha mentions in her post, Rosette Delizy, a tea rose. You can also see a darker version in the front of the middle bouquet in the last picture. For a tea it's a very good rose for cutting, especially in the cooler months. The sculpture is a bronze reproduction of a work by the 19th French animal sculptor, Antoine Louis Barye, that I found in an antique store at a rather high price, but its uniqueness and power made it irresistible.

Christina, as you guessed the rose in the third picture from the bottom is also Charles Darwin at front center. I think from that picture you can tell that it actually has plenty of petals.

The huge rose you inquired about in the fourth picture from the bottom in the center is Mrs. Dudley Cross. That's one of the things I love about this rose, the spectacular size of the blooms. They also last very well in the house.

Ingrid, your bouquets are beautiful, I love the soft colors blended together. The companion plants in the vases are a wonderful accompaniment.

Thank you, Florence and Krista. I really enjoyed being surrounded by all these roses inside for a few days. In fact, I picked a few more today since some of these had faded, to prolong the pleasure.

Thanks for the info on your roses, Ingrid. I am really happy that I "identified" Charles Darwin in the vase correctly. I do love the color and form of this rose quite a bit.

Mrs. Dudley Cross is really showy. Maybe another rose to consider in the future...

Sniff sniff sniff. Yup- I can smell them from here.
You're turning me into a rose snob, you know. Now I want flowers like these in my house, and the only way to get them is to grow them.

Renee, if I've turned you into a rose snob my work is done. The best part is that growing these roses will make you so very happy and your garden so beautiful.

The light is especially pretty in these pics.

Thank you erasmus, for appreciating that. For roses, as for most photography, I feel that lighting is one of THE key elements for a good picture.

I'm really flattered, Florence, that you wanted to see my roses again. I hope the colder weather is not hard on your joints. I wish I could fast-forward your climate to a nice warm spring right now.

Ingrid thank you for these lovely photos. How fortunate you are to have the warmth for a few roses to bloom. My garden is a cold and sodden mess right now. I'm really sorry that I haven't been spending time on the gallery. It's a pleasant morning pastime.

Pam, I'm so glad you stopped by. Since I posted I have far fewer roses blooming, and many of them are balling, since we had more than 8 inches of rain in less than a week a couple of weeks ago. Today is a gorgeous, warm and sunny day. I hope some sunny weather comes your way soon.
