Cimbidium Roses

I was married a long, long time ago. When I got married, my mother made all the arrangements from clothing to the bridal bouquet. The bouquet had cymbidium roses. It also had orchids, but I feel so certain that it also had cymbidium roses.

It was very special to have orchids, but I have always remembered the name cymbidium (cymbidium) for the roses.

As I look back on my marriage, it was at a time when my sister was married the year before, I had just graduated from college, and my brother and sister were still in college. Money was tight, and my mother made all the arrangements. She had been gone now for over 20 years, but I have such strong memories of her love, and her style.

We were married in our home, and I wore a lace suit. The bouquet was a big deal. Now that I am trying to look for the roses, I cannot even find one. All the sites connect Cymbidium orchids and roses.

I would really like to know if there ever were Cymbidium roses, and if there were, what could I purchase for my garden that would reflect whatever they were.

We were married in 1965, so the roses would be before that time.

Thanks,
Sammy

I have only ever heard of cymbidium orchids unless this is a cultivar name??
These (and phalaenopsis) are the only orchids I have ever made an effort to grow (and naturally, they are easy-peasy).
Is it possible that the name was rose cymbidium - a particular cultivar name of one of the orchids?

That is very possible. But my father had about 300 roses, and took care of another rose garden at our park in our small town.

Considering that I cannot find anything about the rose, and it seems that florists are growing roses with cymbidium (cymbidium) orchids, that is probably the case.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Sammy

There is a different orchid that a rose is named after, Phalaenopsis. Might this be what you are looking for?
