I thought I would start a few topics on the Rose Propagation forum that we could all add to and use when considering when and what method to start and share cuttings from our roses. I hope that you will all add what has worked for you so we can all have better successes.

I am sure I missed a few methods, so please feel free to add or correct my topics!

I just made a batch of burritos and a few under lights. I hope I can up my success rate this year. I feel like we need more skills these days to keep rare roses going and help out friends who don't want to lose a rose that has to be moved.

RE: Propagation

While I was at college, we investigated a remarkably efficient and economical method of taking cuttings known as stenting.....or simultaeously budding and rooting on a simple internodal length of cane. I am truly hopeless at links but I suggest you type internodal rooting of roses into the google search engine....where you will be directed to Hortus USA - ideas for propagating. Quite an extraordinary procedure (there is a little video, I believe). There is often a related discussion over on the propagation forum, using something called 'the toothpick method'. Ingenious.
